I can't wait. It is getting closer and closer to our Disney Trip and our first time camping at the Fort. There are six of us going and we leave Friday, April 1st and are staying until April 9th. My Husband and I have been planning this trip for over 7 years (we started planning the day we found out we were having our first child) and we can't wait to take our son. We are very close to my family and my Mom loves to travel so she will also be going with us. And I couldn't go without my two wonderful nieces. So there you have it - Me, DH, DS7, MeMe (my mom), DD11 and DD9.

(Side note - the girls are like daughters to me and travel with us every where we go so don't get confused if sometimes I say nieces and other times I say daughters.)

I have been reading all the tips and looking at the pictures trying to learn everything I can in order to make this trip extra special. We are taking our camper which sleeps 8 and my DH is bringing his tent. I'm looking for suggestions and last minute advice to make sure I have everything some what under control. My Mom hates to plan and doesn't want to be tied down to anything, however, I like to have everything planned so we are meeting in the middle. I have a few ADR's made mostly for dinner and I know what park we are doing each day. Other then that it's all about what the kids want to do each day.

MeMe thinks it might make it easier on us to use the comfort stations to speed up the baths in the evenings - I haven't been able to find any pictures of the comfort stations but are they nice and what are the must things to bring with you when you go.

Also our kids got scooters for Christmas and love to ride them. Is it OK to bring the scooters and can the kids ride them thru the camp ground?

We should arrive at the Fort by 5:00 on Friday and plan to just set up camp and hang out at the Fort until bed. Any suggestions on what to do for dinner that would be easy? I thought I read something about a "Take Out" type dinner you could get - can you tell me more?

We plan to do Epcot on Saturday as our first full day of Disney Fun. We have a ADR for breakfast with the Princesses at 9:10. Can you tell me what time we need to leave the Fort in order to be on time? How do we get from the Fort to Epcot?

Any other tips, advice, suggestions, etc. you can share with a first timer?

THANKS SO MUCH!

the giddy up and go is a chicken bucket with all the fixin's. it has always been a favorite. or pizza for those who prefer it. haven't had the pizza in a while. but, i know the chicken is good.

the comfort stations are the nicest i have seen in a campground. make sure you take ALL of your shower stuff with you.

have a great time-wish we were going.. :)

To go menu......... http://allears.net/menu/menu_teb.htm

I'd leave about 8am to go to Epcot, hop an internal bus to The front (Outpost) bus stop and the Epcot bus will pick you up there.

Kiddos can ride in the loops but the main roads are too busy for fun riding. I would only recommend the main roads for getting place to place. There is a Fl. helmet law for the kiddos also.

Have a wonderful visit, I'm sure you will get hooked like the rest of us.

For the comfort stations; they are very nice and are normally well maintained. We each have our own small bag that holds all of our toiletries - and don't forget your towel.
After you set up, I would suggest going to the Settlement area to look around and have a picnic dinner (Giddy Up and Go) on the porch of Trail's End or at the tables by the lake.
I would then head back over to the Meadows area (maybe let the kids swim) and go to the campfire sing-alond and movie.
Saturday morning you should be at the Outpost in time for the first bus to Epcot... usually around 8am.
Have a great trip.

The comfort stations are great. All of them have been recently renovated. Just make sure each person has a toiletry bag, basket, etc. LLBean has a nice bag, but if this isn't something that is going to be used regularly, I would go to the Dollar Store and buy baskets with handles that have holes in the bottom. We used them until LLBean ran the toiletry bags on sale/clearance. Since we only go to Disney, we actually put an extra refrigerator/freezer in our shower. I cook alot of food ahead of time and just freeze it. That way the main course is done. We were there in August and the pizza was actually pretty good, but so is the chicken. As was said, go to the campfire/singalong and then the movies. Also, you can see the fireworks from the beach along with the water parade. Have a great time. We will be there in September and can't wait.

To echo what others have said, the comfort stations are probably the nicest you will ever find in a campground.

When we arrive we usually do the 'giddy up and go' for dinner that night, as others have said. It is a chicken dinner with all the fixings and we always have left overs, it will be plenty for your group. The pizza is ok, we usually do that once and eat it down by the water. It may also be fun to take the boat over to the Wilderness Lodge and eat there.

Are the scooters electric, I believe those are not allowed even though you will see tons of them. Otherwise the scooters should be fine and it is safe to ride around the loop, just watch out for golf carts.

This is sad to say but the comfort stations are usually cleaner than our bathrooms at home!

Thanks for all the info. We can't wait to go. The scooters are electric. Where could I go to see the rules regarding them?

Thanks again for all the info.

seems electric scooters are allowed to an extent........... says no on roads less then 20, so no scooters on the loops?
