First time at Disney Springs

I went to Disney Springs tonight for the first time ever. Wooooooow!!! It was so different from my expectations. I guess I thought it was going to be like a nicer outlet mall, maybe a posh outdoor strip of shops and restaurants. Instead I found myself in a cross between the Vegas strip, the boardwalk down the shore, and quintessential Disney World itself.

I did not realize I would have to go through a temperature check and bag security to get in. I also wasn’t anticipating the crowds, it wasn’t terribly difficult to social distance but since Disney Springs is contained, the crowd all walks together from one place to the next. Given some food reviews I had read, I thought Disney Springs would be a good place to try some take-out. But it’s definitely a destination and not a quick stop, it took me like 10 mins just to walk from the car to the restaurant (Chicken Guy, very good!) I passed three live bands and did a ton of window shopping on the way.

I wish I had made DH come with me, since I was just “picking up takeout” I was alone and I didn’t even think to take pictures. Does anyone have any cool pictures of Disney Springs, or any better ways to describe it besides Vegas meets Disney?!?

Lol. I love reading others impressions, so thx for posting. My impression is a glorified mall with some Great eats now. It has changed tremendously over the years. I enjoy holiday time there the most and the Disney shops but avoid the typical “ anywhere mall” stores Glad you liked it!

perfect assessment. If feel that Disney Springs is nothing more than an over crowded suburban outdoor mall.

I like wandering around DS but I would never go near there on a Saturday night. We usually go in the morning or maybe a weeknight.

I don't care about the mall stores. I like the Marketplace section best as it bears the most resemblance to the original LBV village and has the merchandise we're most interested in buying.

We hardly ever eat at DS. My wife and I did really enjoy Polite Pig but can't go there with our vegetarian daughter. Splitsville is good for lunch or dinner. We're not into the horribly overpriced sit down places like Homecomin'.
