Checked on line today and managed to snag a CR garden wing garden view room for our Sept trip (wasn't expecting to see availability but some early pixie dust is always appreciated!). We have stayed at CR before but never in the garden wing. How is this part of the resort in general? I know the walk is relatively short to the monorail and MK but as far as the rooms, how do they compare to the ones in the tower? Any good locations to request? Are they quiet?

The rooms are essentially identical to those in the tower, except that the 2nd and 3rd floor rooms don't have a balcony (ground floor rooms have a patio). Last time we had a garden view room we were on the extreme far end, partly overlooking the "water bridge" that connects Bay Lake and Seven Seas lagoon. Long walk (we had teens, not little kids, so we didn't mind), and VERY quiet.

We always enjoyed staying in the wing rooms - quieter than being in the tower, which is nice after a long busy day. And they are very large and comfortable. We never felt we were missing out.

So it still feels like a deluxe with a not-so-much deluxe price?

It is a deluxe. It is still part of CR and the rooms are essentially identical. The price is less because you aren't as close to the Tower amenities - restaurants, monorail, etc. I would just suggest requesting a first floor room. We ended up on the second floor not knowing there were no balconies in the garden wing.

Are the boats that go by a problem at night with blowing their horns?

Yes. It actually still is a deluxe price, just not a monorail-line deluxe price. We stayed CR garden wing last month in one of the nicest rooms we'd ever had at WDW. Great view of the pool, and loved how calm & quiet the garden wing was.

The service was good, too. We had an issue with our safe at first, called about it, & within minutes 3 enthusiastic CM's were there to fix it. Got quick & generous towel refresh we had to request after my son accidentally soaked the bathroom floor during his shower (he forgot to check the plastic shower curtain liner).

In answer to your other question, we were on the water side of the garden wing & never noticed any boat horns.

I recommend requesting ground floor via online check-in, just to minimize the travel time between the garden wing and the tower.

We had a great experience in garden wing a couple years ago and would not hesitate staying there again. We had a great view of the lagoon from our 1st floor room! We had a small beach area directly in front of our patio that we frequented often (hardly saw anyone else using it). Noise from boats never bothered us at all. Walk to main building and MK not bad either!

I think the only request we will make would be a top floor room to prevent noise at night. Our last experience at the Poly in a first floor room led us to that conclusion after a herd of wild elephants above us woke us up at 1am every night.
