Hi all,

Happy to be back on the boards! We have planned a trip in November and my first choice, Caribbean Beach, wasn't available for free dining, so going with the second choice, Coronado Springs. I grew up staying at CBR, so I knew all of the details about the resort and which building I was comfortable staying in.

Now I am staring at the Coronado Springs map and trying to figure out which building is best since we have a standard room. Seems that there is no convenient way to get to the food court without staying in a suite or preferred room.

Does anyone have any tips for a first timer? We're two adults, no kids.

Casitas 4 is an awesome standard location at CSR. You are next to the bus stop that is first to pick up and drop off, near a quiet pool, the salon/spa, laundry, not far from the main building and not too far from the main pool. Cabanas 9A is also a pretty good location.

If the extra $$$ are available, 9B is good (business class) as it includes a continental breakfast, some snacks and drinks and a good location.

Enjoy CSR! You will love it! It has lots of extra amenities not usually found at moderate resorts!

Casitas may be a nice section, but its far from the main pool. I'd go for CABANAS 8A. Its an amazing location for a standard room. It puts you directly across the main pool. At the main pool you can get QS meals PLUS mug refills. There's also a bar at the main pool and a sand volleyball court. To get to the main building its a short walk across the bridge! The bus stop is close by as well. CSR has by far the best bus service out of any resort i've stayed at. Never had to wait more than 5 min, and I never had to stand.

I like the looks of the Casitas section but the location of the Cabanas section, which are more centrally located.

It depends how important the main pool is to you?

If the main pool is important than anywhere in Cabanas is good and reasonably close to the food court.

However, we had an amazing 14 night stay in Casitas 4 in 2011. To add to Babsys post above the quiet pool at Casitas 4 is MUCH larger than the other quiet pools. That trip we never went to the main pool we just used it. The walk to the food court from there was 3 mins for my DS and I, 4-5 mins if DW was with us.

CSR is my absolute favorite moderate, and with two adults and no kids, I would venture to think you will love it too. While I love the Casitas the most, I have enjoyed my stays in each one of the villages (thought I would HATE Ranchos and ended up *loving* it). I will also forewarn you that they cannot guarantee location requests, hence why our stay in Ranchos. To be honest, though it seems like a big resort, we have never had a problem walking from place to place. Hell, the furthest you can be from El Centro is a half mile and even dragging your feet that can't take more than 5-6 minutes. Those early morning walks to El Centro for coffee and breakfast and late at night to get a snack after a dip at the Dig Site are memories I will treasure; it is such a beautiful resort. Just let the magic come to you! Enjoy your trip!!

When you say It has lots of extra amenities not usually found at moderate resorts! what do you mean?

Also looking at CSR ...

Thanks Tammy

One of the perks of CSR is they have a sit-down restaurant. I never make room requests, but I was in Casitas twice and had a business class room on my last visit. I wouldn't be disappointed in any of the locations.

Our first stay at CSR is this November as well and this thread really helped a lot!

We have dining reservations at both La Vetannas and Maya Grill so I'm hoping for some great food!

It has the same amenities you would expect at a Deluxe resort.

Fitness Center, Spa, Salon, Sauna, lap pool, Business Class is like club level light, Large night club style lounge as well as outdoor lounges by the main building and by the pool. It has the largest hot tub at WDW and the 2nd longest waterslide.

I love CR. I love the Maya Grill - it is fantastic and we are very picky. Enjoy.

When we booked the Disney travel agent actually said it was almost considered as a Deluxe resort because as previously said, there is a spa and restaurants, etc. I am so use to CBR which is kind of spread out and a bit of a walk to the food court from some of the areas. I put in my request for Casitas 4 :) My mother and her boyfriend, as it turns out, will be joining us. We aren't pool people, more focused on getting to the parks as quickly as possible and getting to the food court easily. Walking isn't an issue for my husband and I, but my mother has knee problems and will appreciate a shorter walk when she gets coffee and breakfast in the morning. Thanks for your help!

Saskdw has pretty much answered your question for me. LOL! Looks like my work here is done:

Reading these posts has gotten me very excited for our first CSR stay in November! For those of you who have made requests, how specific can you get? Like specific rooms, views, etc? I understand that it's not always possible to honor such requests, but just wondering who's tried it and if it worked out for ya! I'm leaning towards the Cabanas 8a or 8b-love that they have a little beach at that "village".

I had reservations first at CBR, but switched due to a better deal at CSR. We stayed at POR last time. I am also getting excited about staying at CSR. I think the resort looks great and it will be a lot of fun!

I usually just request the building I want. Theyre more likely to honor your request if youre not TOO specific. If you say "8A, facing north, not south. Corner room only, close to the pool but not too close". Thats just not gonna fly. :lmao: So in this case, I requested "8A" and got it! I've always requested a specific room at each resort, and every single time its been honored. Pretty lucky I guess! Keep in mind I always tell them that if the room is not ready right away, im willing to wait. (maids have to clean it etc).

8A is best as its closer to the pool. But 8B is good too as its in between the pool and the bus stop, so close to both. And yes, there's a hammock right there on a nice sandy beach. So pretty!

We are staying at CSR for the first time in October and we are so excited . I requested the Cabanas area (we are booked for Standard View) because we want to be as close to both the main pool and the main building as possible. I do really like the looks of the Ranchos section, but I feel they are too way out there for what we want. I am so glad to hear that others like the Cabanas as well, crossing my fingers that we get that section. Oh, we too have a reservation for Maya Grill...the menu looks amazing, we all can't wait to try it out. I have been looking at pictures and watching YouTube video of the resort and it is so pretty, I know my family will enjoy ourselves there :goodvibes.
