Before we left for our trip I asked for recommendations on what to eat at the California Grill. My husband finally agreed to go there for dinner after being disappointed at the lunch we had there when they first opened. I told him that mostly everyone agreed that he should have either the Pork Tenderloin or the Filet. Our Server was Jenny and she was wonderful. We started with the Flatbread of Roasted Portobello Mushrooms and Spinach with Gorgonzola and Red Onion Marmalade and also the Sushi Sampler. Both were excellent. My DH who never had Sushi before said it was pretty good. We next shared the Hearts of Romaine Salad with the Buttermilk fried Rock Shrimp and Green Goddess Dressing also very good. Well my DH went with your suggestions and had the Pork Tenderloin with Creamy Polenta and Cremini Mushrooms. He was very pleased and said he would not hesitate to have it again. I had the Golden Tilefish with Morel Mushroom Risotto. It was wonderful. We shared the Warm Valrhona Chocolate-Banana Bread Pudding with Banana Rum Ice Cream for dessert along with Coffee and a Cappucino for me. Well my Husband was convinced that this is a place that we will definitely return to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We also had a wonderful Dinner at Narcoosee"s. I don't know which dinner I enjoyed more. They were both wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tks so much for sharing! We have PS at Ca. Grill for our last night in July and we plan to catch Narcossee's at some point since we are staying at GF.

I always like to read good reviews of places that we haven't tried yet.

DH is a huge fan of pork tenderloin so it sounds as if that is the way to go.......

thanks for the review! we will be celebrating my birthday at the California Grill Sunday night:D

We love California grill. Great sushi, great wine list. And it's wonderful to watch the fireworks from the deck. We're definitely going back this October. - Nancy : }

Nice review--CG and Narcoosee's are two of my favorite wdw spots.
If you wouldn't mind--how were you guys dressed that evening and what were others in the restaurnt wearing??

Uncleromulus,

When we went to California Grill I wore a Skirt Set and my Hubby wore Slacks and a Golf Shirt with a Sport Jacket. At Narcoosee's I had on a Pant Suit and my Hubby wore Slacks and a Golf Shirt but no Jacket. We were dining after 8PM both evenings and usually when we dine later in the day we like to dress up (it seems to make our evening a little more special. I did notice though that in both places there were some people dressed and others a bit more casual. I forgot to mention that when we were at Narcoosee's we had the Narcoosee's Knot which worked out great for us. It was alot to eat, but everything was so wonderful we couldn't resist. I also had their Chocolate Martini which was delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still am trying to decide which dinner I enjoyed more. We also went to the Columbia Restaurant in Celebration and had a great dinner there also. We were in Epcot one evening and decided to try Le Cellier. We weren't that hungry so we just had our entrees. I had the Mushroom Filet Mignon with the wild mushroom risotto and it was delicious. My hubby had the 14 ounce New York Strip with Yukon Potatoes and his was good but mine was better (we both agreed). They sat us in a booth way in the corner which was very nice. Our list of special places to dine keeps growing and it is making it harder to decide which places we want to dine at each time we make the trip (which is at least twice a year).

Glad to read your great review of California Grill. We will be celebrating my wifes birthday on our upcoming trip in September. It will be our first visit to CG after many WDW trips, so we are really looking forward to it.

Kpatches:
Thanks. I know a lot of folks are interested in "what to wear" and your own dress (along w/ your observations) should help them decide.

DH and I had that Romaine salad with the shrimp in May at CG. It was heavenly. We also ordered a flatbread and sushi in addition to our entrees plus the banana chocolate cake thing. It was alot of food, I ate about half of everything, but I didn't care...the food quality is so awesome, and I just wanted to sample everything.

I had the seared tuna with Thai Curry sauce and I think that was my favorite dish I've had so far there...I'm hoping that they still have it in two weeks...:p

i have a PS for CG, i was thinking of canceling it and eating somewhere in Epcot instead, (even tho l have another night open for eating at Epcot, i figured 2 nights are better than 1)...now im thinking, after reading this that I should keep it....
should i , shouldnt i ??????? decisions, decisions!!

Erikarate,

Boy, it sounds like we had the same dinner except for the Tuna. Believe it or not I was considering having the Tuna but decided on the Tilefish since I never had Tilefish before. It was wonderful but maybe next time I will have the Tuna. What did your hubby have????

DH had soft shell crabs. This is as you know a very seasonal dish, so I'm not sure they'll have it on the menu too long. He loved it.

We had the BBQ pork flatbread which was good, but I liked the salmon flatbread better. Once we had a BLT flatbread with lemon aioli....ahhhh (drool, drool...ooops excuse me!).

I also had the tilefish at CG once, but it came with a rock shrimp risotto. I liked this, but the portion of risotto was skimpy that night. My complaints about CG are always minimal however. Our meals are always close to perfection.

Can't wait......heard nothing but rave reviews.......we have a ps for a saturday night at 8:20pm..........hoping to enjoy a grand meal and then see the fireworks too
Michelle
