We were at BCV last week and had a great trip. There were a lot of firsts on this trip; first time staying away from OKW, first time staying in a studio and first time at WDW without the kids. We went on an adults only trip for DW’s birthday – the big 5-0!
We used Magical Express and it was fairly painless. The first stop from the airport was BWV so we decided to get off there and walk over to BCV for check in. We got a “Welcome Home” from one of the bell staff at BWV as we were walking through. I didn’t bother explaining to him that we were not quite home yet and now that I think of it, that was the only “Welcome Home” that we got. We arrived at BCV at 2:15 pm (the same time as the ME bus) and got a room right away. The only request I made was NS. We were assigned room 270, overlooking the canal (no sighting of Al E. Gator) and quiet pool. I thought it was a great location.
After reading a lot of complaints here about housekeeping, stained carpets, crabby CMs etc., I was a bit skeptical and was on the lookout for these types of things as I walked around the resort. I have to tell you that I found nothing to complain about. It’s a great resort. I would definitely stay here again.
I have to give a big thumbs up
to this forum for all the great tips. GardenGrocer was excellent. We bought just enough soda, water, snacks and breakfast stuff to last. They delivered it to our room about 45 mins after we arrived. Based on the great reviews here we made a point to see Off Kilter, they were awesome! We also walked over to Jellyrolls one night for a great fun time. Beaches and Cream is a now going to be a required stop for us.
It was a great week for the parks. The temps were in the low 70s and we did get a couple rain showers but we planned around them and never got soaked. We saw everything we wanted to see and generally never waited more than ten minutes for anything.
Things went very smoothly until 1:45 pm Thursday, when the ME bus (or “motorcoach” as they like to call it) dropped us off at the airport for the return trip home. We were on Jet Blue and this was the day after the ice storm in the northeast. Our flight was supposed to depart at 4:10 pm. The fight was listed on the board as “delayed” and didn’t actually leave until 4:45. What? That doesn’t sound like much of a problem? Well it was 4:45 AM Friday that we left. Fifteen hours in airport terminal hell. The biggest problem was that the airline kept telling us that the delay would be two hours and then two hours later they would tell us it’s delayed another two hours. If they had been honest from the beginning, I would have rebooked for Friday and gotten a hotel for the night. I understand that weather problems are not the airline’s fault, but the way they handled this was awful. I guess I should consider myself lucky compared to the folks that were stuck in the airplane for ten hours at JFK on Wednesday. At least I could get up and walk around, get a coffee. It was brutal though.
Well, even with all the hassle getting home it’s still another great DVC trip on the books! Now we have to plan what’s next. Maybe a VB trip just to chill?
Thanks again to this board. This really is a great resource to maximize our enjoyment of DVC.
