Looking for advice! Although we've been to WDW several times, this will be our 1st time staying at ASM. We're staying in Family Suite (3 kids, 1 infant).
Please share your infinite wisdom with me! What do the rooms include? Must-do's at the resort? What to avoid?
Thanks!!

Family suite includes a master bedroom and bath, pull out sofa and chair, bathroom, mini kitchen(microwave and mini fridge and coffee maker). There are tvs in both areas. There is not a whole lot to avoid. Peak meal times in the food court can get busy. Keep in mind that the all star resorts have a shared bus service. Most of the time it's during the day at less busy times but plan for it. I think the most it ever took to do a complete round at all 3 resorts was 10-15 mins

I just stayed in a family suite at All Star Music last month. The convertible beds weren't very easy to setup, so I suggest working on those first and not waiting until bedtime to get them ready. The couch was pretty easy to pull out but the chair bed and ottoman bed didn't make sense to me. You have to disconnect them from each other and then move them to where they'll fit without blocking the bathroom. It's sort of hard to explain how they unfold. I thought the metal edges around the beds seemed a bit rough when you sit on the bed so you might want to call housekeeping and order some extra blankets and pillows to doll them up a bit. The kitchenette use to be a bathroom before the remodel so when you turn the light on it also turns on an exhaust fan in the ceiling. So we ended up keeping the lights off in there most of the time because the noise was annoying. It was nice to have two bathrooms and my Mom slept in the bedroom area and said her bed was firm but comfortable. I was on the sleeper sofa and didn't sleep a wink the whole time we were there. But I'm sure it will be fine for children since they don't weigh as much to feel the metal bar pushing into their backs like I did. We thought the food court was good, breakfast each morning had a lot of options and we had the pizza a few times in the evening which was inexpensive and easy to take back to our room. The buses never had a long wait and seemed to come very frequently. I don't think we ever waited more than 5 minutes for a bus, so that's a huge plus to me. The pool was busy but not overly crowded. Movies at the pool at night were popular and very close to our suite. We were in Calypso. The only bad part about that building is walking through the designated smoking area when going to the food court or bus stop. We ended up cutting through the pool area instead to avoid breathing it. It was worth a few extra steps out of our way.
Oh, one more thing, I would recommend packing some extra socks because the carpet in our suite turned the bottom of our socks black.

When is your trip? Our girls trip is in November...the rest of the family will be at WLV and I'll be at ASM...alone :yay:...which is great since I like to have a leisurely breakfast and tend to stay up WAY later than DD's and DGD's. If anyone has pictures I'd appreciate your posting them. :tink:

I have stayed at ASMusic MULTIPLE times and I just love it! As I am a solo traveler, I have not stayed in the suites.

Take some time to stroll the resort and admire the extra theming in each of the sections.

Thanks for info! My only solo trip included a stay at AoA and I loved it, with the exception of having to walk SO far to my room. :faint: But that still wasn't as bad as AK Kidani and that L-O-N-G hallway to our suite! :faint: Which section would you recommend; are there elevators or should I request ground floor? DD's and DGD's will spend most of their time at WLV but I won't be entirely "solo"...I'm sure along about the 3rd day SOMEONE will be tired of sisters and stay 1 or 2 nights with Mimi but I'm looking forward to mostly solo evenings. Early morning (like 6:30ish) breakfast...a "mad house" or just crowded? Just 1 bus stop? I WILL walk the entire resort...love the theme and plan on tons of pictures. Thanks again! :thumbsup2 :tink:

So far I have only stayed at ASMo but I was in the ducks section which was closer to the main building and buses at ASMu so that's where I usually went for the food court and bus stop.

I had never stayed at an All Stars and was kind of a deluxe resort snob. I was so pleasantly surprised at the service I'm staying at ASMu next trip.

I can't believe yet again someone posted right away about "sharing buses" like it's some kind of a big deal. The only time we "shared buses" when I was there was in the middle of the day when there were only about 6 other people on the bus with me. It took something like 30 seconds to pull into ASSp, maybe someone got off, maybe someone got on, then we were on our way again. All three resorts are right next to each other and this is such a non-issue I can't believe people keep mentioning it like it's a big deal. The crowds on the POP buses (which don't share buses) were more of an inconvenience to me.

Judging from the lines in the various parks after closing, I tend to agree...POP buses were ALWAYS full. Totally agree..."sharing buses" is no big deal. We were also "totally deluxe visitors" with the exception of 1 stay at CB. I'd still have to say Bay Lake Towers, the Poly and WL are my all time favorites because of their location to the MK. With that said, I'm still perfectly happy with the moderate & value resorts. Still get the "Disney magic" and we spend SO little time in our rooms I just can't justify the higher price. However, if I can ever manage a 10 day-2 week trip, I'd have to split stay...value resort and then deluxe for the end of the trip when I'm trying to relax and "wind down" the excitement before heading home. I'll have the best of "both worlds" in November. I'll be at ASM; the rest of the family at WLV, where I plan to "visit" during any available down time. :thumbsup2 :tink:

My "standard " request for *any* value resort is TOP floor, landscape view (AKA NOT facing the pool).

Thanks. Any special reason for that? I have a hard time climbing stairs and enjoy walking right out my door without messing with elevators.

There *can* be significant and noisy foot traffic by ground room doors. People going back and forth, noisy rolling suitcases, etc.

Time to board THE SAD BUS!!!!BOOOOOOOO!!!!:):):):)

Thanks for the info but my room decision was taken out of my hands today :goodvibes; DD upgraded our room to WL so we'd be closer to other DD and her family. :dance3: Another question though...are the Christmas decorations at ASM nice? Our plans are to spend half a day resort hopping and checking out the Christmas decorations. We won't have time to make them all and wondering if we should put ASM on "the list". :tink:

The All-Stars all have a Tree and huge Wreaths themed to each Resort-cute,but I wouldn't make a special trip.

Minor adjustment: The ASM kitchenette used to be part of the bedroom before the remodel. The bathrooms exist as they always did - one per room. Any exhaust fan would have been built into the remodel.
