We are renting DVC points this fall (Nov 20 to 27) for a 7 night stay at AK Kidani Savanah 2 bdroom view room, there are 6 of us going (4 Adults and 2 kids). We are very excited about the trip. .
I am a planner and like to make sure I have everything in place ahead of time. I have been reading various threads about what is and isn't in the room, what kind of room cleaning service happens, etc.
Since we are flying, I am planning to make some grocery purchases through Garden Grocer, and will be bringing lighter smaller food/grocery items.

Am I correct that the room will have 2 packs of laundry detergent?
What about dish detergent for the dishwasher?
Coffee Filters?
Etc?

I know we will need to take out our own trash, where are the bins located at the Kidani?

Anything else I may need to know?

Thanks!!!

There is usually only 1 box of laundry detergent. Dish soap and dishwasher detergent is provided and if you run out just ask for more. Bring your own Mr Coffee style (full size) filters. Can't help you on the trash bins at Kidani.

Have fun planning!

The owner that you are renting from should be able help you with your questions. They have a vested interest in making you happy and keeping the lines of communications open. I would put a list of questions together and email them.

Thats just a rude and snobbish reply smacking of not liking renters. These boards are here to help and be helped, no matter how or who is coming. What if the owners dont know. I for one am in that boat. We just purchased and are going for our first visit this fall, but I have secured a room for a few nights for my parents for a change of venue for them for a few nights. I couldnt answer the question if my folks asked me.
As for the poster, good luck theres lots of people on here that will be kind enough to give you some good tips
Good Luck:)

I don't think Bill was being rude...he was just saying it may be easier to get all the answers from the owner rather than multiple posts. I think everyone on this board is helpful and Bill in particular has a wealth of information to share....and has done so many times.

To the OP. Bring coffee filters. Laundry soap pods, dryer sheets. Everything else is pretty much supplied except for food stuff. You can use Garden Grocer or Wegoshop for groceries if you don't have a car. If you have a car, there is a publix about a 10 min drive from Kidani. You will get Trash and Towel service on day 4 and a full clean on day 7 if you are staying that long. I believe there is a trash room on every floor at kidani close to the elevators, but I am not 100% on that.

Have a good trip!

Recycling/trash is right before the elevators. We were just there in January, and searched for it ourselves.

You will also have a Trash/Towel service on your 4th day (arrival is day 1 so yours should be on 11/23). Housekeeping will remove trash and exchange your towels. They should replace soaps then also.

As noted, you will have a starter pack of laundry detergent and that should be replaced on the 23rd too. Dishwasher detergent, kleenex and toilet paper will also be replaced as needed. If you run out, just ask for those.

There are trash receptacles nearby for anything you want to get rid of before 11/23.

Thanks for asking your questions. They are the lifeblood of discussion forums and are always welcome. It shouldn't matter if you are an owner or a renter - these questions are very valid and there are plenty of posters willing to make helpful responses. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask! :)

Have a great trip! :teeth:

Sorry if that is what you and others might think.

I love renters. We rent out our extra points when we have some and I want my families to come to me with questions, not some strangers who may mean well but give incorrect information. IMO renting out your extra points is more than just making a reservation and taking their money.

As a landlord and vacation planning helper I feel that it is my responsibility to provide my renters with the information they need to have a magical vacation. A Disney vacation can be a overwhelming experience especially for the first timer and I really want everyone to have the best time possible. For us it another Disney vacation, for some it's a once in a lifetime experience.

We had one box of All laundry detergent, no dryer sheets. A small bottle of dish soap for hand washing dished, but we brought pods for the dishwasher and I don't recall seeing detergent provided. I brought a corkscrew, if you plan to have a bottle of wine in your room I would suggest bringing one! Bring coffee filters and coffee. We always bring or order hand soap to have at the sinks, and with the flood of people contracting stomach bugs in Disney last week, I'd suggest doing that. I also plan to always travel with Lysol wiped to be able to wipe down things in the room, not that I feel like Disney is dirty, but just to safeguard our family! The balcony railing, tv remote, etc that maybe don't get cleaned as much as the sinks and toilets! Having just survived 2 sick kids in Disney, I don't want to do that again

I've seen responses taken out of intent many times.... been guilty of it myself. It's hard, when reading, as opposed to hearing and watching one's physical cues, to understand someone's intent on occasion. I've gone back to a post that I thought was harsh, only to realize it was completely my frame of mind at the moment I originally read it.

Just sayin', 'cause sometimes what is learned here on DIS isn't always the original thread's title.

funny you mentioned the Lysol wipes... just bought them for my owner's locker today

Tip 'O the Day!

My cooking tastes go beyond Salt and Pepper...nothing fancy, just a few extras.

Go to the Pharmany area of KMart or Wally World. Look for the little zip-lock bags near the ear plugs (?) and thermometers. Grab a sharpe and head to your kitchen.

You can load these little zippies with often used spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, basil and oregano to jazz up a frozen dinner). Mark it with your sharpe, put in a larger ziplock and you are set.

Cooking in one morning? Pancakes, crush those very ripe bananas, add cinnamon and allspice. Yummo!

Thanks everyone! I think we had it all covered, we are only planning on doing breakfast in the room, most likely biscuits, cereal, or toast. And i took no offense to anyone's response. I have used this site and these boards as a tool for many years when planning our trips . . . great information and appreciate everyone who has posted!!!

We've found the Purex washer sheets are ideal - they are detergent and dryer sheets in one, and best yet they are flat so packing them is very easy. If you drink a lot of coffee, you might want to bring filters, but even buying them at Disney prices (50 PK for $1.95) isn't awful.
