We're driving from Buffalo, NY and will arrive 4/6 with our 13 and 17 yr old sons. We'll stay 5 days and right now, we only plan on visiting US & IOA. I'm not even going to ask if it will be crowded, of course it will.

What I'd like to know from anyone who has gone around Easter is how many days will it take to tour the parks? Are we crazy to attempt this? We've been to disney, but only at off peak (last week of Aug) times so I can't judge by that. We don't have the means to stay onsite so express pass isn't an option unless we purchase separately. Honestly, after what I've read, it makes more sense to stay onsite even just one night and benefit from the 2 days of express pass that way.

That raises another question. If we could scrape up enough cash to stay onsite for one night and benefit from the express pass for 2 days, would we then have more than enough time for US & IOA? After driving all that way, and also considering that this will probably be our last family vacation (17yr old will graduate in June and then there's college, job schedules etc.) we really want to make the most of our time. If we could cover US & IOA with a day or maybe 2 to spare this way, I'd want to plan something else as well. We thought about visiting a beach too.

Also, we're thinking of staying at Homewood Suites on American Way and I'm wondering if anyone has stayed there and if it is walking distance/walker friendly (highways? sidewalks?) to get to Universal or if we'll need the shuttle.

Any help will be appreciated. This is a great forum; you've helped us so much in the past. Thanks.

one night onsite, and two days in the parks with fotl will give you more than enough time to see and do everything. read my first day trip report if you want to see what you can do in one day without feeling rushed and with returning to the hotel for a couple of hours in the middle of the day.
