First stay at AKV and it was a nightmare experience

We had our first stay at AKV and I just have to vent. First of all, we were supposed to have a savannah view, but the only animals we saw were the bugs in the kitchen.

It was supposed to be a 1 bedroom. I thought I was in the walkin closet and then realized it was the bedroom, it was THAT small.

Then what about those hallways! I didn't realize that everytime we wanted to get a bus, it was like taking a veritable safari trek.

And the CMs! Not one welcome home the whole time.

And frankly I was disappointed with the upkeep of the room! I pulled back the carpet and found nothing but dust underneath. Even worse than that VWL dump! Not to mention the that BWV dump!

I mean, could it ever be too early?

Reservation wanted: AKV, Club level studio wanted for the first week of December. I am willing to pay $10/point.

Hey I just got back and had a terrible experience too. I didn't call anyone or go to the front desk to complain . I'm going to wait til next year when I go back down and see if I can get a free upgrade from my value season value point dumpster view studio room to a 2 bedroom club room , guaranteed savanna view for nothing .

Thanks for a fun read! BUT...you are not the first basher, sorry to say! Yup the bashing began the very day that Disney officially announced AKV. Someone went on about the stinky animals...but the sad thing it was a SERIOUS post! Only on the DIS...bashing a resort that wasn't even built yet!

You are so right! SSR and OKW are too big, BCV rooms are dirty, BWV halls are too long, and the views at VWL are horrible. Plus, this new AKV resort is out in the middle of nowhere. Why would anybody want to buy in to DVC knowing this?

The rumor I heard from a CM's friend of a friend that heard it in the grocery store was the sofas that are being replaced at BCV are being put at AKV.

I may have been the one to get the first welcome home at AKV- In 2001 we stayed at AKL 2 nights before checking into a GV at OKW Christmas week. I got up really early and went over to check into OKW and let my son sleep in -
When I returned to get him I had the OKW parking permit on the dash along with the AKL one. At the guard gate he came out and gave me a hearty "Welcome Home" Guess he knew something the rest of us could only hope for.

Those roadside views at BCV and that ridiculously crowded pool and the filthy rooms over there! Mousekeeping must be pigs cleverly disguised in uniform.Good luck booking it at the 7mos window if you own it because everyone that owns SSR (and they are legion) are already lined up with their dialing fingers poised in perfect position .

That terrifying clown pool at BWV, didn't it inspire a Stephen King horror novel? Those hallways are like the green mile.

What brainiac would buy SSR. Who would ever have trouble getting into that behemoth at the 7 mos window! Who cares about DTD anyway. That place is located on the edge of the earth. Whenever I stay there, by the time I get to a park, it is closed.

Don't even get me started on VWL. They gave me the dumpster studio. NO, not the view, the studio. They had a bed and a bucket (that was the bathroom). It was christmas so that was all they had left.
