I have planned a kind of last minute trip to Disneyland in December I was scoping out plane tickets and in the midst of looking prices dropped $200 and i figured why not!
And now i'm going!

I'm planning on staying on a Marriott down the road (not yet booked). I plan on using the ART shuttle and walking when necessary.

I've never spent more than a day in a disney park alone let alone a whole week!
I have to be honest the thing I'm most nervous about it dining alone. I am hoping to get a few dinner reservations and i've considered booking a tour for myself too.

Anything you soloers recommend?
I'm working on a whole list of first things to do!

I've never done DL solo, but WDW solo more than once. I do lots of ADRs, all kinds of restaurants, and had great experiences. CMs are nice, and I've never noticed other diners noticing me. Before my first solo trip, I ate out alone at home a couple of times to "practice."

i'm sure it's more of a mental i make myself feel more awkward than anything kind of thing. I think i'm going to try hitting up the bar side of some restaurants instead of taking a whole table just for me. The one good thing about DL is no ADR's until 30 days before so i'm not rushing to make any reservations yet :)

I LOVE Disneyland! You will have a great time! BTW, the Fairfield is RIGHT across the street from Disneyland in Anaheim, and you can walk to the resort. The Marriott is a little farther away, of course a whole lot nicer, I can't remember if they have a shuttle or not. Another option is the Courtyard. It is fairly new, and very nice, again it is a little farther down the road but I think they have a limited shuttle to the park. By all means, BOOK HOTEL NOW! with Marriott you can always cancel with no penalty if done in the time frame. There are very limited hotel rooms near the park and get sold out, especially in December!

I have done a day here and there at DLR solo. I have never done table service because I always do counter service. But I have never felt awkward to be sitting alone while dinning. All the CMs are awesome when they realize you are by yourself and I have had ton of great conversations with them. The biggest thing is utilize the single rider! The only one that can be hit or miss is Indy and Splash. Though December Splash will be a walk-on. Matterhorn is my favorite SR since I think lots of people don't realize its there. Though I can only ride it once per trip.

I did a solo day at DLR last year and it was great! Some family joined me for day 2, and it wasn't as great. I was able to run the whole place, and I tend to treat DL and CA as one big park. I hopped quite often, even watching WoC and rushing over to the other side to catch Fantasmic!

I wanted to do a solo trip this December too since nobody will go with me, and because of the attractions that are closing for extended periods starting in January. I'm kinda thinking I won't do it now, but I dunno, I'm still wanting to.

The Hyatt Place is within walking distance - stayed there for the Star Wars Half earlier this year / and they have free morning breakfast :)
