I have my first solo trip coming up, I am working out the details now. I am going either May 30 or 31st and checking out Friday 6/4. I have to be in Daytona for a workshop from 6/4 (night) to Tuesday. I just couldn't be so close to Disney and not go. I took the kids twice this past year, so I don't feel too bad about not taking them. Plus, my son has football, so he can't miss that. My dd will have a great time home with her dad fishing and swimming.
I am soooo excited. I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, so we went to WDW all the time. I remember when Epcot opened! Then we moved to GA and I didn't go for years. Now I am back! I plan on buying DVC after I finish my M.Ed. This trip I plan on seeing everything I miss when others are with me. I want to see all the shows, look in the windows, sit and take it all in! I am happy riding the rides once or twice, my kids could ride all day. Last time, they rode Mission Space 6 times! (the scary side, I forget if its green or orange)
Plus, since its just me and the company is paying for it, I can FLY. No 8 hour drive and I can use ME. :cool1:

Woohoo!

Congratulations!

Enjoy your first solo WDW experience! :)

What are some good things to do as a solo? I know each country in Epcot has something, we have only seen the Chinese Acrobats and the O'Canada show (saw that in 1984, lol). I know France and America has shows too. Of course, I'll do Hall of Presidents (I'm a history teacher) and CoP. These are things my kids never want to see.
Anything else I am missing? Do you think Innovations will be packed? I am going May 31-June 3rd. I never get to do any of the cool stuff because its so crowded and the kids never wanted to wait.
Any tips would be appreciated. :yay:

I always do Innoventions the day I get there; something that I don't mind if I don't get back to it the rest of the week (with the exception of Soarin'). But I love The Living Land so much! If you go around 11:00 am, when the countries are opening up - most of the stuff (with the exception of TT and Soarin') is walk right in when I go and that is the Saturday after Thanksgiving!!!

The only unnerving thing about going alone during a busy time, is they may "stick" you in a car with another family. I was lucky enough to be placed in the car at Winnie-the-Pooh with three people who were clearly Asian and spoke no English. The CM put me in the row with them, and they started yelling and motioning me to get out of their line. I was mortified. A young couple with a three year old child next to me, pulled me over to their line and saved me.

Other than that, I have had a blast getting to know people in line and a lot of times they have invited me to join them, if there is one seat left on an attraction.

I also sit a lot at the bars for dinner, and get to know a lot of people who are waiting for their tables. You get a big turnover and the bartenders are usually very friendly.

The best part about it is just to be leisurely and go at your own pace. Have a blast!

Thanks for those tips! I am most looking forward to the leisurely pace. Usually we are running from one ride to the other (kids love the rides). Hopefully after Memorial Day it won't be too busy, the florida schools are still in session and so are the northern schools too.
I am just so excited! Its been a tough year and I really need a fun and relaxing break.

I love the Bar tip. That is my favorite thing to suggest. Most of the restaurants have bars where you can get the full menu for your meal. No need to be a "drinker" to sit at the bar but it is a great place to people watch. Enjoy going to those things that you would never do with your family cause they are too busy doing other stuff. HoP, CoP, Aladin's Magic Carpets (okay, were you paying attention?). . .basically just do anything you want to do and skip the stuff you always do unless it is a MUST do. Wait in line. . .I actually sometimes enjoy my line waits so I can talk to others waiting with me. I am jealous. I keep saying I will do a solo but always end up with others. . .
