Hi All! I am trying my first Signature Dinner EVER! and want to know your opinions on which one!

The choices are Hollywood Brown Derby and Yachtsman Steakhouse.

Yachtsman's menu sounds better but that is going to be our Hollywood Studios day and it would be really nice not to leave HS.

Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

We usually dine at Yachtsman every trip and did so 2x this year, and ate at BD for the first time in years in August. I was so pleasantly surprised at BD after years of not eating there - at this point, I'd choose it before Yachtsman!

I'd choose Brown Derby. We had a wonderful dinner there last week... so good, when we decided to change our park plans, we went back again for lunch. Service and food were top notch! If you like seafood, I had a grouper dish that was excellent. The crab cakes were delicious and we are from MD so we are picky. For lunch, the steak filets were huge and cooked perfectly. The cobb salad and a special soup (oysters and brie soup) were our favorites.

Never been to Yachtsman but thought about it... to me, steak is boring to order in a restaurant... kind of like getting a burger. I usually order seafood which is more interesting in taste and presentation. If you want a signature dinner in the Epcot area, I'd HIGHLY recommend Flying Fish Cafe -- best seafood I've ever had.... the mussels appetizer was to die for..... and DS really enjoyed the evening boardwalk entertainers.

We like the food better at HBD. I've had several meals at YSH and the only steak that I have thought was good is the filet. You can get a filet at any restaurant. HBD has some very good dishes.

Honestly I would not go to either...I would go to Citricos or Flying Fish

Not a huge fan of HBD since they changed into their ''Fantasmic" mode. It was a better restaurant in the old days.
But it'll do if you really have qualms about leaving the Studios...

I'd vote Yachtsmann's Steakhouse. We just ate there last friday & it was awesome! I had the filet & mashed potaotes & a salad...really really good! The dessert was delicious & I liked the bread too. It was my favorite meal & we were on deluxe dining for 6 days.

We ate ate BD on our last trip. It was good but not like I thought it would be. I didn't like the cobb salad at all & I thought the grapefruit cake was dry.

Of the Signature places I've eaten, Narcoossee's was my favorite. But, that's not on your list...

So, out of the two listed, I'd go with Yatchsman, but that's not really fair, since I've never tried HBD. I'm not a fan of the way their menu looks though.

The only signature I've ever done is Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast, so I'm giving you an uneducated opinion here.... ;)

Of the two you listed, I'm wanting to try Yachtsmans something fierce. That and Jiko are on my list of "must dos". The menu just makes me drool thinking about it. Someday...someday.... :)

I haven't tried YS but been to BD a few times. BD is my second favorite to Cali Grill. They have a very good steak at BD, it is my DHs favorite on property. BD's tortolini app is incredible, I get it every time it is so good. The crab cake app is very good too. I've tried a few entrees there and they are all very good.
The service is very good too.

We LOVE Yachtsman and California Grill!!

Both are great and must do's for us!

I like YS, but we LOVE HBD. It's a must do for us. The pork chop!!! The scallops!!!

YS is good, but nothing truly special or different than any other upscale steakhouse.

My favorite is Narcoossee's. But from your choice between the Brown Derby and Yachtsman, I'd go Yachtsman. It is also not a big deal getting there from HS. You could walk it in 15 minutes or just hop on the boat, enjoy your dinner, and go back to the park.

Out of all the Signature's those would probably be my last 2 choices. If you are going to be at DHS you should go to Flying Fish it is my favorite followed by Jiko and Artists Point.

Thanks for your help everyone. I am going to be with my dad who has bad knees, overweight, and out of shape....so I am trying to not make him walk that much and my mom, sister, and brother will still be at HS and I feel bad leaving them for a little bit so thats why I want to do HBD, but that menu doesn't appeal to me. Yachstmen sounds good which is why I want to go there but Im not sure if my dad will be up for that.

Thanks for your replies.

If you think you'd like Yatchsmen's more, then obviously you like steak. The 8 oz filet at BD ($40) was FANTASTIC. I've had it twice this year (April, Nov), and both times it was a world class steak. I'm usually more of a porterhouse kind of guy, eat in places like the original Morton's in Chicago, etc. BD has a good steak.

since you are in HS, I would say Brown Derby. We always eat there on our HS day and had good meals. But if you want an amazing signature meal go to Citricos...we just got back and it was one of the best meals we had in our trip...even our 5 yr old loved it.

I vote for Yachtsman. In fairness, I have never eaten at BD because I don't like the menu. We are just plain eaters lol My son on the other hand would love BD.

We ate at Yachtsman on Wed and loved it. I had the filet/mashed, DH had the strip steak/cheddar gratin potatoes and DS had escargot and Filet/mashed as well.

The bread was so yummy! DS and I loved our filets and he enjoyed his escargot. The gratin that came with Dh strip steak didn't look so hot but it was very very good. His steak was good as well. I will have some pics to post at some point later in the week.

Now, I will say this..................we ate at Tony's Town Square on Sat night and DH ordered a strip steak there as well. He liked it better than the one at Yachtsman! It was tasty--I "tried" 3 pieces of it and only "tried" 1 piece from his yachtsman steak so maybe I liked Tony's better too lol
