Hello fellow scrapbookers,

I have just completed my first scrapbook from my last Disney holiday.

I am very proud, but think I could do better, any hints or tips?

:goodvibes

Can you share any pictures? That might help us making pertinent suggestions. Most scrappers I know struggle in one area versus another. Some are great with layouts but struggle with color selection. Other are great with color but struggle with layering or embellishing.

Thanks to things like Page Maps and BH Sketches, I no longer struggle with layouts. But I certainly perseverate on my color choices! And I'm terrible with mixing patterns.

When in doubt, my biggest suggestion would be KEEP IT SIMPLE! One main color, one mat color, and one accent color or pattern. Straight lines, uncropped 4 x 6 photos, title, and journaling block. Don't worry about lots of "extras" like ribbon, brads, stickers.

Good luck.....................P

I'll take some but what do I use to add them to the DIS? Just seen someone using Photobucket, will get onto it now

Sorry a bit new to this :confused3

You're scrapbook is lovely! It tells your story and that's what matters. It show's what's important to you and you should be proud of it.

I like my pictures to be the focal point of my pages so I usually use plain backgrounds with larger photos with a little bit of embellishment. I also think it's important to journal. That way, a few years later, I can relive the moment without having to try to remember who is in the photo or what was taking place. :)

:wave2:Thank you, we are going with this family again in 2014 but would like to do something different, I'm hoping that this part of the DIS pages will help greatly.

I have kept all the pictures & frames the same size as we had so many and I wanted to use a lot. But having looked at some of the pages here I may increase the size and do more around it inc. a journal.

I'm going to keep looking :)

Here's an example of a layout that I did using lots of photos -- 13 of them. I hope you dont mind my posting it here. I just wanted to give you an example of what could be done.

My background is plain, there is not a lot of other stuff going on in the page and I think the pictures remain the focal point.

A previous poster gave you a couple of great websites for more layout ideas. You should check them out.

I LIKE that you used that Castle & sorcerer mickey paper - and how you put photos on it without blocking most of the photo. I still have all those big picture papers left from my pack with no idea how to use them - There's room for journalling on them still - Just cut a piece the size and shape of the frames and write on it.

The frames help the photos stand out from the patterned paper - which I also never know what to do with. Good job!

PS. I think I speak for most of us when I say one is often proud of, but rarely entirely 'satisified' with the state of ones completed album. I know I've come a long way (over 13-14 years) from my original paper (what's cardstock?) and stickers, my style has evolved, and my pages have improved, but still, I strive for "better". However, I have also learned to appreciate DONE as a goal met.

I totally agree! :thumbsup2

I would add the year on the title page - if more than one album each first page needs it - that way you know which trip it is

if the paper is busy then mats get a plain border - I also like to shadow titles, makes them stand out more -- don't change what you have it is good as it is

my latest thing is sketches - I been doing several of those, it the swap section here there is sketch swaps take a look at those, you can see what the sketches look like then what others have done for it.

I love bigger pics - I"m more of the pics is what you should be looking at - the pages I hate are the ones that have lots & lots paper & ribbon & flowers then there is a pic that is 2x3 or smaller that you almost miss (even better is the pink with lots of flowers & the pic is a guy holding a fish)

Main thing is - do your own thing & don't worry about what others say

This is great :woohoo: I bought my kit from WDW when we went, it's the Four Parks one World kit, it has 4 holes in the front cover which I have added the year but not the dates, may have to add on the first page
