First RV trip to the Fort

Bruh, I've seen sites very well decorated by some very artistic kids with chalk!

I can't stand Facebook drama thus I avoid it like the plague. This camping forum and official Jayco forum are only places I venture.

I notice you're from VA. Stayed in Shenandoah NP before. Pretty place for sure.
Shenandoah is amazing. If you are back that way again, try Shenandoah Valley Camp Ground. Really nice area, plus tons of tame rabbits that roam around.

Great information to know about Shenandoah Valley CG Not only do I not have to bring my Holy Hand Grenade but there are free range snacks for the Savage Sisters

I was REALLY surprised I didn't see any predator activity. It would be a fox/coyote paradise.

There's a lot of activity around the campground to scare them off. There are predators but not so much in the populated areas. Disney property is huge and spans an area that includes 2 counties. A lot of wilderness within city limits. The southern portion that's south of I-4 has a lot of "wilderness".

I never had the stomach for Fakebook, tiggerdad. You're a better man than I am for trying it.

Prouddad, you're brave for going to the Fort and WDW in late May. That is the latest I ever did one of my trips (see my signature below). My one piece of advice is to set low expectations in the parks for what you'll accomplish and chalk the rest up to covering it on a future trip.

I like a lazy day at the Fort between park days with a trip to Disney Springs or putt putt or an ADR at a nonFW resort for lunch or dinner as the schedule allows.

The OP has stayed in a cabin before, so they kinda know the lay of the land, but the more they encounter it - I think the more they'll like it.

Bama Ed

PS - although in late May to early June it starts to get hot. :beach: Me no likey all that sun....

I agree, its gonna be hot. I honestly wanted to go back to enjoy the fort, because last time we just spent too much time at the parks. I tried to convince my wife (DW?,) to move to FL, but she says the kids have too many roots here. I'll keep you guys posted on our trip!

Moving to Florida was the best thing we ever did. You're from VA, right? We used to live in MD. Best view of MD was in my rear view mirror!
Sadly we have to make one last trip for a wedding, then never going back.

I'm right there with you. Virginia is a beautiful state, but it just isn't the same place I grew up. I'm standing fast that FL is the ultimate destination; might just have to wait till the kids are in college. Time will tell, lol.

Have a good trip. We made the trip from Chesapeake, VA and stopped at the richmond hill KOA on the way down. Let us know how the St Marys KOA is.

They ised to have a free breakfast there, waffles or biscuits and gravy, cofee. Pool was nice.

Trip going well so far! Made 550 miles the first day. St Mary's KOA is very nice, especially given its convenient location to 95. Nice pool, still offers free breakfast and no rowdy guests. Now to get everyone showered and fed and heading to the fort.
Side note: The gas station directly next to St Marya has the cheapest diesel I have seen in 100 miles.

If he took I-4 from Daytona he will likely arrive just in time to check out
You mean next week? Ha!
I always take 417. It's worth it to me for a better traffic experience. That being said, if I'm headed home that interchange is a crapshow until you get to Champions Gate. Then it starts to open up gradually.

Is that the one with the constrution through the city? I sware i will never go that way again.
