"First rule of leadership, Princess...." ~Overdosing on Ice Cream

Congrats on the new family addition! And congrats on getting through the field trip. Laying on the floor???? It would be hard to restrain myself from saying something to her! By the way, school's out here TODAY!!! Yay! (Of course we go back August 6, when the temps are cranking into the high 90's. :headache: )

Thanks. It was hard to restrain myself. Later after lunch when I told her and her princess posse they couldn't go in the trees she told me to "Shut the H*** Up." and that was the end to her field trip. She spent the rest of the afternoon sitting on the bus. :lmao:

Our last day is June 13th, we don't start until after Labor day.

The teachers know why. ;) What I'm amazed at is how rude a lot of the children are. They simple don't know how to behave in public. A 12 year old girl should know better than to lay on the floor and whine about how hungry she is, while an adult is explaining a piece of art to a group.

   Oh my goodness. That is awful.

    Where do kids get this kind of nerve?! I am glad to hear it was the end of her field trip! Unreal!!! Just sad really, isn't it?

Quite sad actually. IF I ever found out my own 12 year old daughter talked to anyone like that I would be livid. However I know the mom of this particular 12 year old will either not believe that she said, or come up with some reason why it is not her fault.

Is it just me or has the boards been like a ghost town lately??

Yes it has been. :confused3

glad it's not just me.............

sounds like the trip to the museum was fun....;) The school my kids go to take the 4th grade to the pacific science center each year.............that's one trip I don't volunteer for............6 hours round trip on a bus with 50 10 yr olds.......not my idea of a good time!

:sad2: I'd skip that one too. Though the Pacific Science Center is cool. We have annual passes.

The field trip was fine yesterday, and next Wednesday's group should be great, it was just today's group that was very trying on my patience.

You think your field trips are bad. My last one was sitting in a back room at Sears with 22 intermediate kids and 12 jr. high kids. They were there for eye exams and to pick out glasses. They put all these kids across from the room where they test people for hearing aids. It was hard to keep them quiet. I really couldn't blame them, it was so boring. Any way I survived. I was supposed to go again yesterday but came down with a bad cold and had to call off. We get out June 2nd but start back up on Aug. 18th. Too early in the summer for me.

Can't wait for the next chapter.

Is this your student?:rotfl2: :goodvibes

That sounds incredibly boring! :scared:

Okay, over the past few days during my spare time at work (I teach too), I've managed to read all 99 pages of this TR! Unfortunately b/c I am at work, I'm unable to see any pictures :sad1:
I've enjoyed following your tales and look forward to your next installment!! popcorn:: Remind me what time of the year you went again? You seem to be having huge success with the low crowds! :cheer2: Did you miss school to take this trip?

Cheers,

Laura in Austin :hippie:

I can't see any pictures when I'm at work either. We went March 8th-18th and yes Daisy and I missed 8 days of school for the trip. :rolleyes1 The crowds did get a lot thicker the closer we got to Easter.

Michelle your district didn't give you a hard time taking off. DH is a teacher and he has to be so careful about the days he takes. He gets a "warning" letter if he takes to many days off.:sad2:

"Cheshire Cat: 'Oh, by the way, if you'd really like to know, he went that way.'
Alice: 'Who did?'
Cheshire Cat: 'The White Rabbit.'
Alice: 'He did?'
Cheshire Cat: 'He did what?'
Alice: 'Went that way.'
Cheshire Cat: 'Who did?'
Alice: 'The White Rabbit.'
Cheshire Cat: What rabbit?
Alice: 'But didn't you just say - I mean - Oh, dear.'
Cheshire Cat: 'Can you stand on your head?'
Alice: 'Oh!'"- Alice in Wonderland

Wednesday March 12, 2008 was our rest day/ kid's choice day. It also was the day David was going to the Richard Petty Driving Experience. So David got up early and took a taxi to his adventure, while the rest of us slept in a bit. Our wake-up call with Mickey and Stitch was at 9am.

One of the things Adam wanted to do was ride on the monorail, so I had mad an 11:20 am adr at 1900 Park Fare and planned for us to take the monorail from Magic Kingdom to the Grand Floridian. This turned out to be perfect because we go to ride the whole loop first before we went to breakfast.

Everyone showered and got ready for the day. The boys put on dark grey cargo shorts and green, grey and white polo shirts. Joey's was white with green sleeves and grey stripes, Adam's was green with a white and grey stripe on the sleeves. Daisy had a white denim skirt, green cami, and green and white wide striped polo shirt. Aunt Pat and I both wore dark grey capris and I wore a green polo with thin white stripes and Aunt Pat had on a white v-neck knit shirt. We looked very nice and dressy enough for breakfast at the Grand Floridian.

While we were waiting for the bus David called

and said he was almost finished. I told him we were on our way to the Grand Floridian for our adr at 11:20am. Now here is where a communication break down occurred. I thought that David was going to go back to CSR and rest and we would meet up with him after breakfast. David decided he would try to meet us at the Grand Floridian, he didn't tell me that though.

Our bus came and we rode to the Magic Kingdom and then hopped onto the monorail.

Getting to see the hotels on the monorail loop was really cool. I snapped a picture of inside the Contemporary,

IMG_6219.jpg

and Joey took one of the Mickey Head flower garden.

IMG_6220.jpg

The beach by the Polynesian looked inviting and I'd love to watch the Electrical Water Pageant from there someday. We exited the monorail at the Grand Floridian and entered the lobby area.

IMG_6223.jpg

The Grand Floridian is rather intimidating to walk into, but I loved how beautiful and light it was. We got a little lost but eventually found our way to the check in for 1900 Park Fare,

IMG_6224.jpg

we were slightly early since it was only about 11am now. We waited a bit,

IMG_6225.jpg

and then we were escorted to a large round table near the buffet. I really liked the interior of 1900 Park Fare, the carousel animals were so whimsical.

IMG_6226.jpg

IMG_6227.jpg

We all immediately went to get food since by now we were starving. The food all looked delicious and I was especially excited to see they had oatmeal.

IMG_6233.jpg

The children were especially excited that they had gummy bears. Daisy came back with a plate of food and a dish of gummy bears.

IMG_6237.jpg

Joey seeing this went back to get a dish of gummy bears,

IMG_6232.jpg

and Adam came back to the table with just ice cream with gummy bears on it.

IMG_6256.jpg

Just then the Mad Hatter came by. He asked the kids what they were going to do that day and they said they didn't know. He commented "But your all dressed up."

IMG_6228.jpg

There were not very many people there so we got a lot of time with the characters. Tigger and Pooh came by next for pictures.

Then Alice who was very sweet.

IMG_6251.jpg

She wanted to see the autograph book and when I reminded her she had signed it the day before she said "Of course I did."

Joey was eager to meet Mary Poppins and when I told her she was Joey's favorite she seemed pleasantly surprised. Joey just beamed in the pictures with her.

IMG_6246.jpg

I don't know if it was because we were all so hungry or not but the food was really delicious. I think I enjoyed 1900 Park Fare more than Crystal Palace because I could relax more since I wasn't worrying about a cake. Plus I prefer face characters that can talk to you.

About this time I got a text from David saying he was at the hotel. Thinking he ment CSR I told him we would see him in a little bit. My phone was not getting a signal inside the restaurant so I didn't know he was trying to call me.

Alice and the Mad Hatter wandered by

IMG_6260.jpg

and I heard the Mad Hatter suggest they get some gummy bears, so I sent Adam over to take some pictures of them getting gummy bears. The Mad Hatter ate some,

IMG_6257.jpg

but Alice did not.

IMG_6258.jpg

IMG_6259.jpg

Then Pooh came by again and pointed at the gummy bears and then at himself and Joey said "Hey Pooh I'm eating your cousins." Pooh laughed at that and nodded.

IMG_6253.jpg

While Pooh was still there Mary Poppins came back over. I had suggested to Joey that he should ask her if she could say Supercallifragilisticexpialidocious backwards, which he did. She said "Well aren't you a clever boy." Then she and Pooh taught him how to say Supercallifragilisticexpialidocious backwards.

IMG_6263.jpg

Joey then taught Adam and Daisy when they came back to the table. If you want to know how you will have to ask Mary Poppins or Joey someday.

Before we left Adam did some bouncing with Tigger and got one last hug.

Our breakfast at 1900 Park Fare was wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable. However the ride back on the monorail was not to be so pleasant.

We loved 1900 Park Fare, food and characters. Since dd now knows that the characters are just that, we have three Alice signatures on her pillowcase! We didn't do that with everybody just b/c she's the favorite.

Great interactions with the characters! We really enjoyed our breakfast at 1900 also! The Mad Hatter always cracks me up!

I love the Mad Hatter and Alice. :goodvibes
