After exiting Festival of the Lion King we did not spend anytime exploring Camp Mickey Minnie. That was due to my leadership. I was still in commando touring mode and I wanted to get us to lunch before the crowds so I lead us directly to Pizzafari. Now everyone was hungry so this wasn't a bad choice, I just wish I had let my family spend a little time enjoying the moment.

Pizzafari is a very cute counter service place, I loved all the bright animal decorations. However I don't do counter service well. Having to stand in line and try to decide what to eat, and because I'm a big control freak, feeling responsible for what everyone else decides to order, all the while trying to hurry and not cause the line to back up to much, causes me much stress. David wisely sent Joey and I on our way after ordering to find a table. There were plenty to choose from, unfortunetly I managed to spill a whole cup of soda as I set the tray down, yep all my diet brown caffeine all over the table. It was quickly cleaned up by a CM and myself, the only real casualty was Joey's pepperoni pizza. We had more than enough food though so we didn't even replace it. All the food was good and everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the chicken parmesan sandwich which was terrific.

As we finished up lunch Pizzafari was beginning to get crowded, so I was glad we were on our way out. Walking towards Expedition Everest I noticed that all of Animal Kingdom was starting to get crowded. Joey and Adam were the only ones who wanted to ride EE so they used all 6 of the Fast Passes we had to ride it 3 times in just 30 minutes. The Fast Pass line is really fast!

While I was purchasing the picture from their last ride, Adam found a Yeti hat with light up eyes he wanted to get.

We then made our way through the ever increasing crowds back over to Kali. I had grabbed Fast Passes for it when we were there earlier and Daisy and Adam used them to take one last river ride. Once they exited we looked at how crowded it now was, and how hot and tired we all were and made the decision to forego our set of Fast Passes we still held for the safari and exit the park. Swimming at the hotel was sounding very appealing.

David and the kids got some ice cream for the walk out. I got a Diet Coke to keep my caffein intake up. While we stopped to get Adam new sunglasses Aunt Pat headed over to the coffee kiosk outside the entrance to get her caffeine.

The choice of sunglasses was not that great, but Adam did find a pair he liked. Unfortunetly I set my Diet Coke down while I paid for them and then left it behind. That was two sodas I had lost for the day! I was quite disappointed to make the discovery of the missing Diet Coke while we waited for the bus!

Back at CSR we all changed into swim wear and headed to the pool to hang out for the afternoon. I consoled myself for the lack of Diet Coke with an Electric Lemonade from the pool bar. Making it a priority to spend time at the Dig Site pool and to relax at our hotel was definitely one of the things I did right on our trip!

Sounds like a busy but fun day. I hate counter service too! So much stress! And I fully support leaving for the pool. Its not a vaction unless you are having fun.

How eating at a counter service place affects me was one of the big lessons I learned on this trip. I know lots of people think that table service restaurants are a waste of park time, but for me counter service is just not worth the stress!

ITA on the counter service stress! For me, it's not about the ordering, it's about trying to get through the crowd to a table with those trays and tall cups while people are jostling you and giving you the evil eye, just in case you have taken the last morsel of food :rotfl: - and trying to be sure you don't lose any children in the process.

I really don't know why people are so upset by table saving in these places - you need to deposit part of your party so you are not "clogging" up the line, IMHO.

:lmao: I never even knew other people thought it was rude until I started reading the Dis. I just figured the fewer people you take into the line the better.

Because we have the DDE, we've never eaten there. I'll have to stop some time and try though.

Awesome ! :cool1:

Have you ever tried the raspberry tea at the tea cart? It's not too sweet and very refreshing. Too bad that's the only place to get it.

Pool time is gud! :thumbsup2

loosing 2 diet cokes in one day at disneyworld must be the equivelent to loosing a $20!;)

I agree about the whole table saving debate. It makes me wonder what other rude things I'm doing and totaly oblivious to!:rotfl2:

I was thinking of Pizzafari for the next time we need a CS at AK -- it sounds yummy after reading your review.

I think I am the same way at CS places -- I always get very jittery and panicked feeling until I sit down. I always assumed it was the crowds, but the whole deciding and ordering thing right on the spot probably contributes to it also!

Bummer about losing two cokes in one day! :(

At least, along with the lost sunglasses, it was not a good day for the wallet!

I just hate the whole rushed feeling I get.

I get the whole cs stress thing. Usually you're tired, hot and hungry and having to share air space with lots of other folk in the same boat. Plus, unlike ts, you have the uncertainty of where you'll eat. Will you get a table or not? My family all ate at Pizzafari and enjoyed it, but I held out for a Fred Flintstone drumstick. My kids remember sitting on a bench sharing "MY" turkey leg (when will I ever learn) more than the cs meal and are looking forward to tackling their own when we go back, although I think eating a whole one would make me  . Cute yeti hat!

Great update!! I'm glad you had a nice anniversary dinner and that your dh really liked your awesome surprise! :cool1:

Sorry you were beverage-challenged that day :rotfl: but, otherwise, it sounds like another wonderful day at Disney! :goodvibes

Looking forward to the next update popcorn::

PS: I reserved our spot with MasterPark - such a small thing, but it made me happy :lmao:

I'm with you on Counter Service places! :scared:

Good decision to go back and swim - not to mention the electric lemonade sounds great! :goodvibes
