First Riviera Rooms declared

But when will they start letting us book the rooms on points?
Not until they start selling points.

Which probably won't happen until the POS amendment they filed 1/25/19 is finalized by the state.

They are either out of their minds, or know something we don't know.
A 1 BR "preferred view" for the same points as a 3 BR Grand Villa at OKW?
So many points for a 2 person studio with a kitchenette that doesn't have a sink?

Horrific theory:

There is a clause abut converting ownership interests to reservation points within BVT. The "high points" charts will apply to trades IN to Riviera. It will cost you all those points in Saratoga points to book a unit, but fewer in Riviera ownership.

Those numbers are not stabs at any actual point requirements for a given night. They are “the math” if every night of the year were equal. The educated guesses are saying BLT’ish.
“As with prior DVC resorts, this declaration also lists "maximum reallocation" values which are linked to a potential "'leveling' of all seasons." We interpret these values to be an annualized average point cost, should all seasons and weekday/weekend differentials be eliminated. The values listed for Disney's Riviera Resort are as follows:”
“These values are not minimums or maximums and do little to foreshadow the exact makeup of the eventual point chart.”

Thank you. This is the point I was trying to make but you said it much better than I did.

I don't think we can even determine if that is the point cost averaged out throughout the entire year as your post explains or the median point cost as figured by the season that contains the most number of nights or even if it is just a random number thrown out. There is just really no way to know at this point.

Well, those numbers come from the recorded POS and are defined as the “maximum reallocation values”. The Riviera numbers are strikingly similar to BLT. See post 57 here:

Yes, but it is unlikely to be one of the lower point resorts. I find it interesting that if the article is correct, that the GV’s don’t have the best views. It stated Carribbean Beach with a possible side Hollywood Studios view. You’d think the GVs would have the best views.

Just note as to that mention elsewhere on this site that the points will be similar to BLT based on the maximum reallocation provisions, the actual comparison made is showing that the Riviera standard room points are likely to come out close to the BLT Lake View and Riviera's preferred view points to BLT Theme Park view, in other words, really somewhat higher than BLT overall which has its own lower "standard" view category. What is indicated is that the 24 Tower Studios will have the same nightly cost as BWV standard view studios, meaning those will likely book right at 11 months out once the resort gets close to selling out. Otherwise in comparing to BWV, which is the closest to Riviera in both location and room numbers, it appears likely that the average per night points for Riviera for both standard and preferred view, and for GV's, will be about 30%+ higher than BWV's current point requirements for standard and preferred (boardwalk and pool/garden) views and GV's.

As the poster of the post linked above by @Spartan86 I want to agree with @drusba that Riviera is similar to BLT's Lake View and Theme Park (not like it's Standard View). I also agree it is much more than BWV/BCV so I can only imagine what those point cost will be when/if they get revamped and resold at expiration.

But when will they start letting us book the rooms on points?

There has to be a home priority booking window for the new buyers although this is the one point they are allowed to make it less than the 1 month normally required. Depending on what the opening date is determined to be the non-resort owners end up following the 7 month booking window. If sales do start soon that is what I suspect it will be.
