first pre-trip report

Hey guys!
This is a lot of firsts for me, my first post (let alone my first pretrippie), my first "adult" trip, (meaning I'm actually paying and planning for the trip and no parental units), and my first vaca with DBF!!

This is DBF and me at his frat's formal...

He was the social chair and planned the whole thing, it turned out really well!! I was a proud girlfriend. :
I never ever thought I would date a frat guy, but here I am.
They're actually all really great guys, I love them all...well most of them...ok, ok at least half!

It was his exotic looks that got me, I relate him to Aladdin... he thinks it's because he's brown but really it's because he tries to do all the right things but in all the wrong ways, but how can you get mad at that cute face? He is seriously one of the sweetest guys I have ever met and so clueless sometimes!! He is also a very hard worker

It says a lot that he has been able to put up with my extreme mood swings and my inability to have a serious conversation. I always laugh when he tries to say something important, he absolutely hates it!

We will be celebrating our one year anniversary on this trip!! <3 does that mean we get an anniversary button? or is that just for married people?

We're staying at POFQ, I have stayed there before and I remember liking it. By the way DBF has never been to Disney before so i feel like there is so much pressure on me to make this trip extra special. I have to make sure he wants to come back! again and again and....again.

Like most of you, I have been planning this trip obsessively. I just really want this to be the most perfect trip. I really had to hold myself back from adding little mini breaks for dedicated times at the Unofficial Guide's favorite resting places.

I have been to Disney numerous times before but when I was too young to really notice how my mom planned the trips. She had to have planned for them because I remember we did everything and always had dinner at the best restaurants and stayed at the best resorts. The latest trips have been the biggest bust however. My mom, she passed away in a car accident 5 years ago and since then my dad has tried to pick up the reigns, but it's just not the same. My dad is not the disney type, he is slow paced, he is a surfer, he would never plan anything! He even talks slow and mosies...so we saw very little on those trips. Still ADORE my daddy though.

Thank goodness I have my sister she's like me, I want to take her on the next trip!

So this is why I'm extremely nervous about this trip, I feel like I need to get the magic back and share it with DBF.

Here is the Itinerary for the first day
-1st Day Sunday
-leave the house at 6:am
-get to the Animal Kingdom by 8:30am
-pick up tickets
-Do: Kilimanjaro safaris, pangani forest trail, dinosaur, it's tough to be a bug, Everest w/ fast passes
maharaja trek, see finding Nemo@11:30, See festival of the Lion King@ 12:30
-ADR at Rain Forest Cafe
-Check in at PORFQ
-hang out by the pool/take a nap/whatever
-Dinner at Bongos

Is the Animal Kingdom stuff all doable by 3:00? I'm really open to any suggestions remember this is my first time planning....ANYTHING

I can't sleep at all, my poor sister is going through a "crises". All the girls her age are so vindictive. In this case the girl was my sister's best friend... my dad met her mom through them and now they are engaged to be married on Aug. 9th!!! so now this girl is really going to be a pain in the you know what. She is so awful to my sis I can't take it anymore, Im so tempted to step in, but I really can't with my dad and her mom getting married so soon I guess it's best to leave the fighting with them and arm my sister with some good defenses. This is a picture of the evil child..

Get to Epcot by 8:20am

hey.. was lurkin' around. I wanted to say hi.. you and your Dbf look great together. Isn't planning your own trip just so much fun? I"m having a blast planning our second trip as adults (alone without parents!!)

Your first 2 days look great and I personally get everything done in AK by 2 or 3. Have fun planning your trip and they are fun to plan when you are going as an adult. I understand the pressure b/c when I was dating DH I took him to Disney for the first time when we were dating and I wanted him to love it just as much as I do. Well he is is getting better at enjoying it...we actually went there last year for our honeymoon and just recently said he wanted to go again so we are...in Oct.

Best of luck planning the trip and I can't see what else you have planned!

Thats a fabulous picture - You have to admire the make up. Im sorry for your sisters feelings - I cant imagine how she must feel. My advice is to hang in there - If your Dad feels the mom is worth marrying - there must be good in the evil stepsister.

Raecheal- Thank you so much again for catching my mistake! I love planning this trip.. I had no clue i had an obsessive compulsive planner side to me. I feel like this trip is my baby and that it's my duty to mold it into the best little trip that it can be....I know I'm crazy.

luvfigment- I love figment too! I hope I can get as lucky as you did with your DH fingers crossed

whipperwhirl- Im sure it's just the age, she used to be so sweet and innocent Im hoping we get back the girl she used to be soon

Taleb, that's dbf's, name is hanging out with two of his old friends right now... they're girls.... I get jealous really easy if you couldn't tell lol.

My dad's fiance told me she thought it was cute that I was working on my tan for the wedding...really I was laying out with disney on my mind. Reason for compulsive tanning is..when I'm tan I don't need to wear make-up and then I don't need to worry about it melting down my face while in the scorching hot florida sun. Yea I'm that crazy.

for our 3rd day dbf and I aren't going to the parks and left the day completely open except for a reservation for bluezoo at the Dolphin. We are really excited for this ADR because we have heard all good things. The food is supposed to be amazing and the atmosphere is supposed to be romantic so

since we wanted to have a relaxing day I tried to slyly make an appointment at the SSR spa... DBF wouldn't have it. LAME. Frat boys don't do spa day apparantly, so then I told him he could turn on a football game and down some brewskis and practice spitting or whatever it is men like to do while I have a spa day....he just laughed at me. bye bye dream spa day.

I REALLY REALLY can't wait we leave so soon!
and I just bought a new camera that takes really amazing pictures, it's a cannon and Im in love with it. I'll show you guys a picture of my bridesmaid dress a little later ....it's actually really not that bad.

About the spa, have you tried whining and pouting? it works for me especially if i'm recovering from being sick.

You can try to convince you DBF to get a manly sports massage or something. He may be surprised and love them. My DH is a pretty big guy and is manly but he loves him some massages, pedicures, and manicures. We actually did a couples massage on the honeymoon at the GF. So you can always try to convince him again.

So I never looked at the GF and they have a lot more options than SSR and there is a sports massage and also an instructional massage and I'm almost positive DBF wouldn't pass up that, he would love that I would be able to give him a massage. Thank you for the advice!!

That is exactly my plan (tanning) lol I def. fine if your tanner than you dont have to wear any base(foundation/poweder) what so ever.. maybe just a lil blush/bronzer and mascara and good lipgloss and your all set. I'm not leaving until the end of September.. so i'll most likely start tanning mid-august. It def. doesn't take me long to get a nice tan.
Keep working on that spa day.. mine got vitoe'd lol

He is stuck in Costa Rica because he's not a planner and he's broke and can't pay the fee to get back into the united states..

I think this is so funny, he was supposed to come back sometime today hopefully he makes his flight.
My dad is trying to wire him money right now

Hi! You're trip sounds great! There's also a spa in the Dolphin. Mandara Spa. It is nice there. DH and I got a couples massage where you are both in the same room. It was really nice and relaxing!

I have never been in the Swan or Dolphin so I'm excited to check it out, I have never even considered staying there before because it's not really Disney. I hear it's amazing though. I'll make sure to check out the Mandara spa. Thank you!

Brother made it home from Costa Rica! It is actually pretty impressive that someone like my brother went out of the country for two weeks and came back in one piece.

So here are our plans for the 13th
Get to Magic Kingdom by 8:10
lunch/swim break
Dinner at tonys town square- I think at 8 DBF actually made this ADR

Taleb is going to kill me about getting to the park so early but whatever im planning this vacation and if I dont get my spa day everything else will be my way!

I think he is starting to cave on the who massage thing because (I had no part to play in this, this was just divine intervention) he had just talked to his friend who told him that he gets massages all the time and loves it. I guess the kid is really stressed about a new internship and somehow the convo segwayed into massages WTH? I should really play the lottery why am I so lucky?

my best friend and her boyfriend MIGHT join us at animal kingdom! she lives in by the parks so it would be really easy for her to just stop by for a day. Here is a picture of her and me before a pirate party

I really like pirates love love love them. You can imagine how crazy I am about Jack Sparrow
PS if anyone needs two people for and Illuminations cruise on the 11th or a wishes cruise on the 13th we are down!
