First post and DVC dissatisfaction

I understand perfectly well that we own a time share in Aulani. We knew that going in. We were lied to and given bad information on other things. I have no problem with the timeshare, in fact we are totally happy witht hat part and can't wait to visiting Hawaii next year as we feel in love with the islands on our honeymoon. We also totally love that fact that as we have children we can grow further into the timeshare and pass it down to them.

I'm sorry disney lied to you. I'm glad things have been straightened out to your satisfaction. Enjoy Hawaii.

IMO Disney sales reps or guides have an easy job. To me DVC like most things Disney sell itself. The guides are just the conduits in the process. Having purchased a timeshare years before I became a Disney nut... I was pretty familiar with advantages and disadvantages of timeshare ownership. There was nothing our guide could say or not say to change my mind on purchasing. The product sold itself. It's also my opinion that the OPs guide didn't lie rather didn't understand the question and therefore gave bad info. Happy Disney rectified the situation though. Best of luck with the membership! :)

OP enjoy your up coming trip to AKV its a beautiful resort! Glad you got your voice heard with Disney!

We have been DVC members since 2001. Thru the years we've been "frustrated" along the way. There was a time we considered selling because at one point I remember it being so difficult to get a reservation (especially @ Disneyland) and being upset about how much ownership was costing us (ex: yearly fees). Had a discussion with the person who sold us the timeshare in 2001 and one thing he said really made sense. DVC is more about taking vacations (investment) than the "perks" (discounts). When I look back and see the vacations we've taken (Aulani twice, Disneyland and Disneyworld), if we were doing it the conventional way it would cost a lot more. I'm not saying the DVC couldn't do some things better, I think we all think they could. I just sure we wouldn't have been able to go where and when we did without the DVC membership. If you're still unsatisfied with the outcome of your complaints, keep complaining, keep telling your story until you are. I agree with the other posters that perhaps you need to complain to a supervisor or someone higher. I hope you and your wife can put this behind and enjoy your DW vacation.

OP, I believe that in a few years you'll be happy with your DVC points and the initial disappointment over promises not kept will fade.

DVC is about having a nice place to stay at a Disney resort. And you'll get that.

Glad you heard from someone and are pleased with their response. It's a huge company with some bad apples.
