First or Second week in December?

We are planning a trip to WDW for either the first or second week in Dec., leaving on either Sat, 12/2 or sat 12/9. Does anyone have any advice on which may be a better week (lighter crowds) or is it pretty much the same. Also, do weekends in December see a larger crowd at the MK? The reason I ask is that the park stays open later on Saturday nights.

we went last year 12/1 to 12/10. only crowds we saw were the pop werner kids with the championships at WDW. we didnt notice the kids till one day at MK. we knew they were there and really didnt notice them unless you are staying at the all star resorts. only days we noticed largse crowds were on friday and saturdays. other then that right after thanksgiving is great. 20 minute lines 30 tops. the closer to christmas the larger the crowds. i hope this helps

We always go the 2nd week in December to avoid Pop Warner and to take advantage of the last week of value season. We find that the crowds are not too big, nor too small during this time. Crowds are heavy first week due to Pop Warner and 3rd week is when school lets out thus families starting their exodus to WDW.

We get there after Pop Warner and leave the day the crowds are arriving.

That's my $0.02 on why i go the 2nd week.

we're big fans of the 2nd week. Back in 2003, our longest wait time was 15 minutes during the second week. I hear crowds have gone up, but being a summer visitor, anything less than an hour is good for me!

In 2003 and 2004 we went during the 2nd week of December and the crowds were pretty light. Last year, we went during the 1st week of December. We thought the crowds were slightly heavier during that trip than on trips prior and have scheduled this year’s trip for the 2nd week.

We've been 1st or 2nd week many times and to be honest dont see much of a difference between the two. But each year has seemed busier than the last. Also, the later trips made Christmas at home really rushed so I guess I prefer the earlier time - even with PW.

We love the 2nd week in December, but from the responses you've received above, it sounds like a popular time to go as well.

Either way, you should have great weather and the crowds will not be huge. You'll have plenty of fun.
