We will be arriving at FW at app. 3 pm on sat. 11/23. We will not be going into the parks that day, but want to go to a good dinner that night. We have me, DH, DS 18, DD 15, DD 13, DS 8 and Dsis 17. any suggestions? It can be anything with or w/o characters. Thanks!!!:p

Buffets -- Trails End Buffet is good at FW; if you want characters, try 1900 Park Fare at the GF. Very good buffet with Pooh and Friends; there's something for everyone. Cape May Clam Bake at BC if you like seafood.

Sit-down -- House of Blues at DTD West End is my favorite. You may also want to try Rainforest Cafe or Wolfgang Puck's Cafe. These are a little more pricey.

Resorts -- Ohana's!! Yummy!! 'Nuff said.

If $ is no object for a group your size, treat them to Yachtsman Steakhouse (Yacht CLub Resort). You'll probably end up melting down your credit card :p but it'll be a meal you won't soon forget (or pay off!).

For a different taste, Jiko or Bomas at AKL is a real treat.

Problem is -- so many choices, so little time!

I vote for Ohana's, my daughter and I went our first night last year and loved it. This year my son and and are going and Ohana's will be our first dinner as well.
My daughter is a picky eater but loved the beef and turkey and we both still rave about the pineapple dipped in caramel.

It isn't fancy, but our family is headed to Beaches and Cream our first night. We figure if we have a bit of a wait it's not cutting into our time in the parks. My kids picked it over trying Chef Mickey's. As we're using Connections vouchers, it's saving our family of 5 $50 over going to Chef Mickey's.

We always get in late because were from the West coast and our favorite thing is to go to the Contemp. Resort shop/ride the monorail to the other resorts and eat dinner at the California Grill watching the fireworks if they have them and look at the MK. The castle changing colors etc. just gets us all Disneyfied w/o going into a park.

Since you are at FW why not go to the Hoop Dee Do Review it's always fun.

I had thought about this, but we have season passes to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo. and they have a show there that is very good (actually it is great!) (and it is free..you just pay for ice cream or popcorn if you want it) . It sounds like the HDDR is ALOT like the saloon show at SDC and we have seen it 3 times, so I really don't want to shell out the $$ for HDDR. Thanks for all the other ideas, I still haven't decided!!! Hopefully I will soon!!!!

We made our first night's dinner plans at Chef Mickey's. I'm thinking it will get us in the mood and help set the tone of our vacation. Staying at FW, you can take a boat launch over to the Contemporary and not have to mess with busses, etc. The Whispering Canyon in the Wilderness Lodge is also fun, but no characters.

Another vote for 'Ohanas here. Not only is it a great meal but as it's a Saturday, most likely there will be fireworks at the MK, you can arrange a time to either try for a window seat at the restaurant and watch from there (they dim the lights and pipe in the music), or eat and then go to the beach and watch from there. Kinda getting a bit of a park day without paying the admission :) You could maybe watch the Water Pageant too.

We like to do Chef Mickey's on our first night. But, I had never thought about Ohana. If you do a sitting late enough for the fireworks at MK, is it a problem getting away from that area, and back to your resort if you're not staying on the monorail?? My DD9 would love this idea!!! Hmmmmm.
