What do you do on your first night at WDW? We'll get there on a Tuesday in September around 3pm. Downtown Disney? pool? TIA

We usually take a rest then venture over to the Boardwalk to start getting into the mood. Then a dip in the pool for a good nights sleep. I now a lot of people plan dinner at Chef Mickeys to catch the Disney spirit without having to use up a day on their pass. If you have LOS passes you have time to rest awhile then spend a few hours at one of the parks. Have fun whatever you do.

First night at DIS, We always use the pool first and cool off, then we go to MK and have a nice dinner then watch parade and fireworks. DIS 4 us.........CBR 99 Allstar movies Feb 2001, Allstar music Aug 2001.....

On our last trip we grabbed our resort card and headed over to Typhoon Lagoon. We got there about 5pm so the crowds were light. After 9 hours in the car it was VERY refreshing. The kids could run around and work off the tension of being stuck in carseats. Us adults could cool off and relax. Afterwords we picked a restaurant and stuffed ourselves! Best first night I've had at WDW yet!

Our plane is due to land in Orlando at 10am Fri Oct 5th. My MIL and husband will already be there (they are driving down) with our luggage and the car. The first day we are planning on "resort day". We are staying at Wilderness Lodge for 6 nights. That day we will pickup lunch at Roaring Forks and have picnic lunch on the beach, go swimming, catch the afternoon WL tour, have dinner PS at Whispering Canyon. Then at 8pm we have ressie for the Fantasy In the Sky fireworks cruise - yippee! Then we will hopefully catch the Electric Water Parade at 935 from WL. Off to bed to get ready for next day.

I like to spend the time walking around the resort and soaking in the the atmosphere. Then I head over to Down Town Disney and have a look around. I will head back to the resort and hit the pool. I'll be doing this in 34 days....just to let everyone know.

1999 - 8 day trip - DD - Fulton's Crabhouse for late lunch/dinner (4:00)

2000 - 4 day trip - MGM - to see Fantasmic

It depends on how long it takes to get to WDW and how long you are going to be there.

There are similar threads on the Themepark board

We usually arrive late afternoon and we like to grab a bite to eat, let our daughter swim and get to bed early so we'll be ready to go for our first day. Last year we ate at Beaches & Cream then couldn't resist watching Illuminations from the beach. I love that feeling of being back in the "Magic"!!

If you visit Downtown Disney, I recommend Cirque Du Soleil's La Nouba. I've been there 6 times already to La Nouba and promise you will be so impressed. You may want to reserve your seats in advance. I have the number on my homepage. JohnCombsWebPage :bounce:

We usually check in at the resort and then head to a park but this time we are doing it differently. We are staying at DI and driving to WDW, so we are doing spa treatments at the DI Spa, then dinner at DD and the evening performance of Cirque.

12 days till WDW:bounce: :bounce:

We just got back and what we do the first night is we stay offsite as we get there around 5-6pm. We do or store running, etc...
But what we did this year which was really neat was we went to eat at one of the hotels.
We went to the Wilderness Lodge and had a great time. It was the first time I ever did the
Hokey Pokey at the dinner table. Had a great meal and got to scout out a possible future hotel to stay in.

We will be arriving around 10:00am so we will grab some groceries, check into ASMu and take a nap/swim. Then at 7:40, we have PS at Ohanas at the Poly. We'll then venture out onto their beach and watch the MK fireworks at 9:00pm! Can't wait..2 more months. Jo

We were there in Mar.2000 our fist night we went to Epcot and saw TON and Illuminations!!:bounce: :jester: :bounce:

Our first night there, we always do Chef Mickeys around 6 pm and then after that, we head over to Boardwalk...it is our favorite and really puts us in the "disney" mood!! :)

Go to Poly and watch MK's firework by the beach.
Stroll around Port Orleans, then take the boat to downtown disney.
Drive to Celebration and dream about living there.

I see a lot of people saying that they eat at Disney restaurants on their first night, but can you go to these places without using your pass? We will be getting there on a Sunday evening, but won't be using our passes until Monday. So, my question is how do you get to these restaurants, or are there just certain ones that you can go to? This will be our first trip in Sept. so we really have no idea how it works, Thanks, Lisa

Yes you can. I never use my pass 1st & last day.
Resort restaurants / Boardwalk downtown disney don't require any passes. Nicer ones are Kona Cafe in Poly, 1900 Park Fare in GF, CA Grill in Contemporary, Flying Fish or Spoodle in Boardwalk....etc.
You have tons of choices. :)

Since our drive takes 24-25 hours our first activity is to take a swim. Even if our room isn't ready there's always a place to change at the resorts. I usually pack our swim stuff in a small bag I can carry so it's all in one place. We head to Downtown Disney later for dinner or ice cream but don't stay out too late because we'll be up and on our way to a park early the next morning!

We're originally planned to go to HoopDeeDoo the night we come in but canceled due to the expense. If our plane is delayed, I don't want to be stuck paying for a meal I haven't eaten.

Sooo, we'll be going to Beaches & Cream for dinner (have the $10.50 certificates :) and then we'll stick around for fireworks. A question, though? If we're staying at OKW, will we have any trouble getting a parking place at The Beach Club?

Since you arrive on a Tuesday, check to see if it is a E-night!! You could get all the Mountains and some of torrowland done with little or no Crowd, and little Heat!!!
