With the closing of PI, my wife and I are having a difficult time deciding what do the first night we arrive at WDW. We arrive on Wednesday 10/29 , but won't be checking into SSR until about 7:00pm. We'll be staying until 11/1 when our AP (which we got with our wedding last year) runs out. We already have plans to spend all of Thursday afternoon at Food & Wine and then go over to Jellyrolls once the park closes. Friday is the Keys to the Kingdom tour and then dinner at Narcoose's.

Short of just going and drinking at Ragland Road, does anyone have suggestions on what to do that first night?

Despite the closure of PI, it still may be a good time to take in DTD. Perhaps take in La nouba (sp?) and have a bite at earl of sandwich. Better now than using up valuable park time latter. Do some shopping. It would also be a good time to visit some other resorts(ride the monorail ) just to take a look.

My suggestion is to just relax and enjoy your resort, grab some food from the counter service, maybe a bottle of wine, and enjoy being alone together. Like a picnic in your room. . .or on the river, or anywhere for that matter. Renew your love for each other and don't worry about running around to see stuff. . .

DH and I are going w/out the kids in Nov and we have done a no-kids trip before- oour 1st day we plan on hanging out at the resort for the day than heading to Jellyrolls for the eve! It's really a lot of fun!:thumbsup2

Jellyrolls is always a good thing. I always enjoy taking in DTD, and usually go several times during the trip. I like to grab something to drink from Ghirardellis and shop around, enjoy the atmosphere and have a good evening.

I know, you just want to get going and have some fun. I always feel the same way and have the same problem when it comes to what to do the 1st day when I arrive after 3p.

Your resort is cool and has a lot to explore. If your room has a balcony I 2nd the thought of getting a nice bottle of wine and kicking back.

If you are really looking for a bit more to do, head over to POR for some live music ( check with your GS area and see if they can confirm that someone is playing that night ) The bar area is quite cozy, relaxed and the music adds to the charm of the resort. Minzers at Grand Floridian is also great for this.

Another idea is to catch the torch lighting ceremony at the Poly. You could catch dinner or drinks after that as well.

Thanks for the resort suggestions. Maybe we'll just resort hop that night and drink around the monorail.
