So, on my trip in August I'm flying in late Thursday night. I'm planning on spending the night at MCO, then cabbing it to RPR (whre I'm spending the next four nights) Friday morning. As such, I've accepted that I am going to be starting my day at UO rather than IOA, as I'll probably reach the parks when they open.
Would there be any point in staying at an offsite hotel Thursday night? I'm thinking that it would be within the realm of possibilty that I might get to RPR a little earlier that way.
Any experience? I did the MCO/airport hotel/early hotel check in in July of 08, and I was fine, but WWOHP throws things off a bit.

Unfortunately, I do not have an answer for you, but here's to hoping that someone more experienced than I can help you.....

However, I would love to see the report on "A vegetarian and pescetarian do Disney dining 12/07" but the link does not work. Can you repost?
Thank You!

The link is fixed now :)

I have a similar question - hope you don't mind me bumping your thread up. :goodvibes We are checking into PBH on July 24, probably arriving around lunch. If I can convince DH to take the 23rd off from work, we might drive straight through and get to Orlando Friday night. Does anyone know of a reasonable hotel near Universal to stay that night? We might not even make it that far, so we would be wandering in off the street with no reservation (which is why I don't want to add another PBH night - in case we don't get that far). We probably will have to sto on the way Friday night, but I'd like to have a few possibilities in case the stars align for an earlier arrival. :thumbsup2

Thanks!

I can't vouch for any of these, but I am considering doing something similar. Below is a link that shows several hotels quite close to Universal.
I was looking at the Best Western for a one-night/first night b/c Costco offers a small discount through their website...my date at end of August was $63 per night for two queen beds. You might be able to find cheaper is you are OK with double beds.
I haven't had the time to look very far into any of the those. Definitely check tripadvisor or similar site.
Depending on how much work you want to put into it, perhaps check out betterbidding dot com and then see what you can find on hotwire, etc.

Oops, can't put in a link. Anyway, very close there is a Fairfield Inn & Suites, Best Western Universal, La Quinta Inn Orlando, Comfort Suites. If you google the address of any of the above, other close by options will probably come up as well.

There is also the Doubletree (but you have to pay for parking), a Holiday Inn, a Holiday Inn Express and a Hyatt Place Universal.

These hotels are all in the same area.

There are allot of hotels right outside the entrance or on International Drive (I-drive). Last year we got to Orlando a day early because we just kept driving :cool1: and stayed at the Days Inn because it was not that expensive....never never never do that

But this year we are flying in Saturday afternoon and going over to the Enclave on I-drive. Booked a 2 room suite with a terrace for $99. There will be 4A and 2C staying there that night so the price was pretty good and it is just over by Universal and Wet and Wild. We have stayed there in the past and thought it was not that bad.

We then check into the RPR Sunday morning to get our keys and head over to IOA to look around some and maybe check out WWOHP. I think we might wait until Monday to actually try to get to the park when it opens, or before, and head over to WWOHP right away
