When I logged on to reserve my next stay- exactly 7 months from date- the first day for all resorts except SSR and OKW were unavailable. Any ideas why?

Because they've already been booked?

Likely a combination of owners booking before seven months, and people having booked that date previously when their seven month window started. Unless it's Christmas, at which point I'd suspect walking.....

You don’t see walking that much at 7 months because it doesn’t work the same as it does for home resort 11 month booking.

I agree it’s probably more a popular day that people snagged right at 8 am.

Agreed with the walking - it was just something I've seen happen at the 11 month window so I mentioned it as a thing.

Honestly I was shocked there was availability everywhere for the rest of the trip at the seven month opening past the first day, usually at that point at least one of the smaller resorts is starting to have a few days taken up here and there, or at least in the studio categories.

I think some of it is people trying to get reservations before the point increase on June 11.

Is July 11 when the number of points to book (i.e., points cost of each night) increases?
No. The 2022 points charts will be released sometime in the next 2-3 weeks or so. At that point any re-distribution of points will be published for the entire calendar year. Keep in mind though, that if there are any changes, it is a re-distribution, so if points for a certain room type during a specific travel period increase, then a corresponding reduction in points needed will be made somewhere else (room, travel period, etc.). The number of total points never changes, so points "increases" can never occur across the board.

LOL! I meant is July 11 the start of a new season, when points costs to book villas go up? In response to this string of posts having to do with availability or lack thereof 7 months from now:

ok, I missed that. What point increase?
I'm curious as well...
And of course the 2022 points charts have been out for some time now - we're waiting for the 2023 charts, and if they come out before the member meeting on December 9, I'll be quite surprised.

No, it's smack-dab in the middle of the summer season (June 11 - Aug 15). And yes, I meant the 2023 charts.

Thanks - so maybe AliceIn meant people are trying to get reservations for the period before June 11, when the nightly points cost goes up, and mistyped July instead - since the thread is talking about 7 month bookings and we're 7 months from June 6.

In any case, I don't think AliceIn was talking about an increase in cost to buy points as of July 11!

Exactly. Many schools end at the end of May. It is cheaper points wise if your trip ends by June 10.

I am trying to book last week of May or first two weeks of June. Our schools get out end of may. Trying to beat the summer crowds and the lower point cost . I currently have boardwalk studio booked and it appears that is what I am going to stick with unless something else opens up. Only looking at Studios that sleep five. We just stayed at Poly last month so want to try something different. We wanted Beach Club but it was basically sold out before our 7 month dates.

I have noticed this as well (at the 11 month mark) - it seems to only be happening at the lowest point valued studios. It's very strange.. these examples were taken just now (so 11 month mark is Oct 6):

std studio, VGF:
620351

std studio, RIV:
620352

boardwalk view studio, BWV:
620353

std studio, BRV:
620354

There are a few more examples as well

That is weird for one day to be sold out. I was watching Beach Club Studio for May/June and looked ahead of months and found it odd how one day was sold out. I didn’t know if the studios at beach club were part of a lock off and maybe the 2 bedrooms were taken.

This is what walking is. People are moving trips forward which is why days are before and after today’s 11 month window are now open.

Tomorrow, the 6th will return and the 7th will be gone.

Once we get to dates people actually want you won’t see the days prior come back.

Ah, ok - that makes sense. Is walking this common?? Or is it showing up more now because it's simply a popular time of year? I saw this back in September too, so maybe I'm just underestimating how common this actually happens
