hi everyone

just wondering what you all do on your first night?? really need some idea's as its been so long since i was there last :rolleyes1

we land at 2.55 their time so was thinking we'd be at hotel by 6ish? hopefully!!

thank you in advance :thumbsup2

The first night is tough, its been a long day and all your body will want to do is sleep, but you dont want to otherwise you will be awake at 4am. The best thing that we do is as soon as we get into our room we all help to unpack, have a shower and change in clean clothes, then explore the resort, trying to leave eating till as late as possible because as soon as youve eaten you will really begin to dip.
No matter how late you stay up till you will wake early because your so excited. I find by day three we're on Disney time;)

That is about the same time we arrive I think. This time we are staying in a villa further out so probably get to villa, empty the car, then go out to supermarket to get some essentials for the night and next morning then go back the the villa for or if we feel up to it somewhere near by for food.
In the past when I have stayed either in disney or lake beuna vista then we would sometimes go to DTD but as there are seven of us this time I think it will be a night in the villa!

6ish, as in 6am? If so, you will just about be in time to hot foot it over to magic kingdom in time for rope drop - who needs sleep!!!

depends on where you stay. we normally get in around the same time and when staying at the dolphin we like getting a pizza from the takeaway section on the boardwalk and just sitting outside getting used to the weather.

we're usually lucky to find our villa before it's dark - DH invariably gets lost somewhere en route and being stubborn and always right refuses to admit defeat until we're at least 30 mins out of our way!

We usually stop along the way to buy some essentials (milk, bread, butter) and when we've found the villa (!) have a cup of tea and some toast and then unpack before just collapsing on the bed. I don't mind being awake early as I'm usually itching to get out there and let the fun start on our first full day!

I think it depends on where you're staying and the make-up of your party. During our last trip, when it was just dh and me staying onsite, with no kids in tow, we surprised ourselves by ending up at Jellyrolls until 12:30 (meaning we'd been up for well over 24 hours). Offsite, with little ones to consider would be a whole different ballgame.

Landing at 2:55 local time should give you some options. Where are you staying?

We normally have a wander round the resort grab something to eat and hv a swim. Going on later flight this time so def wnt be doin much. Hv my 73 year old mom with us so a much more chilled holiday for us this time.

We would grab a bite to eat, supermarket and maybe DTD if time.
Just once we dropped our bags, quick shower and into MK, only reason was it was Xmas Day 2008, we couldn't be in Orlando Xmas day and not go into MK.

Our plan is to check out the resort and eat thier. Im trying to talk the family in to DTD to eat and look round, but after the nightmare we had in Euro Disney when we did this, i doubt anyone will as we will be even more tired!

We usually get to OKW unpack, sort our groceries out and then we go out for dinner. We usually go to rainforest as it's one of my DD's favourite restaurants and it's close by. Then depending on how we're all feeling we wander around DTD or go back to OKW and relax!

We don't arrive until 4pm - 6pm roughly. Then immigration, picking up bags, car hire etc so we usually get to WL about an hour and a half after we land. We head on down to downtown after checking in and grab something to eat usually EOS :thumbsup2 and soak in the Disney magic :lovestruc

we normally have great plans of getting to the hotel and going straight to a park! never happens, get there, eat and bed by 9!!!

this year its all different as we have 23 month old twins with us!

We've always unpacked first - then eaten and if sitting down to eat thats when it usually hits us. As up until then my anxious adrenolin (spell!) has been keeping me going (getting the right car, not getting lost, getting a good room) by the time we've unpacked thats when i suddenly go "wow we are here!" start to relax and the tiredness kicks in. so usually after food we are done in - usually about 9pm (flights always about 10.30/11am outbound). Next time will have DD with us so will be trying to keep her awake as long as possible so she doesn't wake us up before 5am :goodvibes

Thats a great idea, it allows you to gain the atmosphere without making you feel the tiredness of a park. If we went to MK on our first night we'd probably get to the front entrance and then leave due to tiredness :lmao:

If you have a 14 day ticket and visit the parks the first night I think that means you won't be able to visit the parks on your leaving day - if you planned to.

I'm not planning to visit a park on my last day so will be heading to Epcot to catch Illuminations on my first night :)

I'm usually so tired, all I manage to do is check in, make it to the room, get my jammies on and crash into bed!!

2.55pm Orlando time is 7.55pm UK time, so if you're not expecting to get to Pop till 6pm, that'll be the same as 11pm. I think if you can manage anything, a bite to eat if you're hungry, then sleep.

Wake up refreshed and raring to go the next day!

(Our flight next Sept is scheduled to land at 6pm Orlando time - 11pm UK time! It'll be around 1am UK time we make it to the resort - think my routine above will be applied again - LOL!)

We usually unpack, shower then either go to a park or look around the resort/downtown Disney. The trick is the fight the urge to go to bed until at least 10.30pm and then u should get a good sleep and be up around 6! Well that's what works for us anyways!!
