We arrive at 4pm on a Friday. I have reservations for 7:50 @ Ohana. This is the same restaurant we ate at the first night the last time we were in Disney. Any other recommendations for a "festive" first night dinner? We are staying @ GF and plan to go to MK after dinner for Wishes.

Define "festive" :) Kona Cafe is a great meal, Narcoosees, Citrico's are also great!

Define "arrive"!!

If you mean you know you'll be getting to the GF at 4 then I'd try for an earlier dinner so you can have more time in the MK. If you're arriving at MCO at 4 pm ...... ADRs the arrival night scare me. One little weather delay, one little traffic jam with the ME, and you've missed your ADR.

Ohana is indeed a "festive" first night dinner, but if I was doing that I wouldn't plan on going into the MK afterwards. In fact, unless Wishes is not until 11 pm, you should probably be able to watch while you eat - just ask for a table in the main dining room so you'll have a view out the windows.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "festive"--you could do a character meal (1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickeys all in the area) or Hoop-Dee-Doo or something like California Grill (which would also have fireworks views from dinner). But Ohana is pretty festive too--and you already have the ADR!

I think Ohana is a great choice...however, I agree w/ some of the others that your ADR time probably wont allow you to get to MK in time for wishes.

We are hoping for Ohana for our first night of our trip in Oct, and then we are going to try for WC for our first night during our trip next Dec.

Hmm, I don't know what would qualify as festive, but if I were staying at the Grand Floridian and wanted an arrival day dinner, I'd just make it easy on myself and book a reservation for Citrico's. Well, for two reasons, really.

One, you won't have to travel anywhere to get to the restaurant. You'll be at the resort and can relax a bit before dinner. And two, Citrico's is a good restaurant. I would want to eat there regardless of where I'd be staying on any given trip.

For a festive dinner in the MK area, our first choice would be California Grill! It's a short monorail ride away from GF and then you could watch Wishes from there or take a short walk down the path to MK.

Happy Planning!

Walk the beach path from the GF to the Polynesian. Stop at the luau area and checkout the tree in the sunken area (I think it's a strangled fig). Very private area if there isn't a luau going on (FYI it's a designate smoking area, but I rarely see anyone there when there's no luau) If there is a luau, just enjoy the walk, the romantic tiki torches, the drums, the giant tiki statue, sit on the first beach by the luau on the swings....heck, if you have time, walk all the way over to Sunset Point....bring a bottle of wine with you....or grab a tropical drink at the pool bar...

It's a very short walk, shorter than it looks....very romantic....I think that's festive! LOL
