OK experienced cruisers....another clothing ? for you.

It sounds as tho the first day will be the most hectic, right?
Among all the excitement and hustle bustle of lunch, registering the kids in the clubs, palo ressies, spa appts., 4pm drill, 5pm
sailaway party, then we have 6pm dinner. Just when does one get the time to change for dinner ??
I have read that first night is casual, but I am wondering how to do all this and be ready for 6pm dinner. What did you do?
:earseek:
Thanx for your advise!

It's not really as hectic as it seems. :)

We stay at the sailaway party till about 5:15 or so then head back to the cabin to change for dinner. That's plenty of time to freshen up and slip into casual clothes. Even last year, when we didn't get one of our bags until about 5:15, we still made it to dinner on time.

As Michelle says there is time. We've been lucky and usually get our bags early so we are unpacked before the drill and then can go up and enjoy the sail away party. On our first cruise (3-day) our first night was in Luminare's and was considered more formal (this was back in '99). We had time to get to the room and change.

Now that the first night is casual we usally just stay in what we wore on the plane or over from the hotel. This is dockers and a polo for DH and usually twill pants and a coordinating blouse for me.

Just stay away from those muscle shirts 4nana! :)

The first night is casual in all of the dining rooms -- even Lumiere's. You will also see pretty many shorts that first night. The last night is also casual. We were in Lumiere's the last evening and were told by our servers to go ahead and even wear shorts if we wanted too. They said that many people wear shorts the last night --- so they can pack up their dressier clothing awhile. We kept to casual pants/tops both the first and last night. Hubby did wear shorts on island night though.
:D

This year our dinner was changed to 5:30 and we still stayed at the sail away until 5:15, went back and changed and made it to dinner by 5:35. We had our clothes out on the bed and just slipped into them, capri pants for us girls and dockers and polos for the guys this was with 2 kids , 7 & 8.

Thanx guys! Appreciate the advise as always :)
We're a month out now, trying not to get myself too wound up!

As mentioned we've always had luggage right away so DH & kids head for the pool while I unpack. And we've never had a problem being ready for early dinner. In fact, we've always had Lumiere's first and dressed up for it.

I have a list of which clothes DS10.5 & I will be wearing to which meals - formal, semi-formal, Lumiere's rotation (dressed up), AP rotation (black & white), Parrot Cay rotation (diff tropical outfits), tropical night and Small World night. The only 2 nights Im planning on DS wearing shorts to dinner is Small World (navy to go w/red white & blue top) and tropical night. If we are assigned Lumiere's tropical night he can wear pants to dinner and change after.
Im hoping we can dress as planned even on the 1st night. If we dont have our suitcases by the time our early dinner time comes along we will be in our orange Tigger t-shirts.

Is it acceptable to wear shorts the first night? I like to take advantage of this, even if we have our bags, but not be out of place.
