What was the first sit down restaurant you remember eating at and what is your favorite sit down nice restaurant. It's got to be a place where you are served, not pick the food up and then sit down. I'm on a trip down memory lane. :rotfl:

While I'm sure we must have down a few of the fast food ones during our first trip, I really don't remember anything special. Come to think of it, I don't think I knew there were special restaurants back then. :confused3

It wasn't until 4 years later and trip #2 that I took my kids to a character breakfast at the Poly.

My favorites have changed over the years but since the first time I ate there, now about 2 years ago, Boma's is number 1 for me.

The 1st thing we ate were nachos, but the 1st real meal we ate was at the Luau at the poly. The 1st meal in the park and my favorite during our trip was breakfast at CRT

The first sit-down place I ate at with my family was the 50s Prime Time Cafe. It was so gross! I haven't been back since!
I love, love, love Ohana's! It has to be my favorite sit down restaurant. I'm getting a craving for it right now!

When I first started reading your post I was going to ask you if I could say Boma since I "pick the food up" myself there. I guess it is acceptable seeing as it is your favorite, too :p.

Good point. Buffet style places can be included even though you do "Pick Up" your food. I was thinking of places like Pecos Bills or the Electric Umbrella. As nice as they are, they're not in the same league as Chef Mickey's or Bomas.

Town Square Cafe (now Tony's Town Square). The Crystal Palace was actually the first, and it was much different then than it is now.

Town Square Cafe also for us and they made the best Monte Cristo.

Our first restaurant, on our first evening on our family trip to the World was Caifornia Grill at CR. A nice start. :goodvibes In the middle of dinner we watched Fantasy in the Sky.

The Empress Room on the Empress Lilly. At the time we went, it was the nicest restaurant that I had ever been to in my life. It is still right up there at the top in my memory because sadly, it doesn't exist anymore.

Crystal Palace, that was about the only place we went while I was a teenager growing up. Mostly we did the fast food places.

But my favorite from the early years was another that's no longer there. Our honeymoon (1980) there was a restaurant in the Contemporary, I think it was called the Gulf Coast Room, and it would be similar to Cali Grill these days. Yum. :goodvibes

I'm not sure what it was called, but I ate in the Contemporary(probably where Chef Mickey's is now)back in 1976 on my 1st trip to Disney(all right, it was only the MK back then). I was 17 yrs old and was there with my parents and twin sister. I was enthralled with watching the monorail go through the building. I still remember that day like it was yesterday and it was almost 30 years ago! Man, does time fly.......................... :earseek:

Our first restaurant was the Rose and Crown. We went in November...cold in RI...and I wanted to eat outside on a warm, balmy night. :)

Favorite restaurant is probably Boma. We're also big fans of Prime Time, but more so because we're big fans of Auntie Claire. :teeth:

On our first trip (1994), we arrived mid afternoon and went to Epcot first. We ate at The Land, which was also our first ride.

I don't remember much of my trips as a child (went three times). I don't think we ever ate at a sit-down place.

As an adult, my first was California Grill. :) DH and I started our honeymoon with dinner there. It was just amazing! That was in 2000. We went back in 2003, and while our meal was very good, it was not as we had remembered. I guess you can never duplicate that "just married-it's the first night of my honeymoon" magic. :lovestruc

DH & I went went to WDW together the first time back in 1983 - we were on Spring Break & went on a trip with my parents. The very first sit down restaurant we ate at was San Angel Inn at Epcot. I remember being so impressed with the ceiling that looked like the sky & the volcano. Epcot had only been open for about a year at that point. That was our first night & we were lucky to get in. Back then, you make your PS's at little kiosks phone banks at the front of the park (?). We could hardly get in anywhere the rest of the week. My dad ended up getting sick on that trip & just DH (then fiance) and I made the parks. We went commando from park opening to close every day. We ate several meals at Captain Jack's at Downtown Disney. It was called Captain Jack's then too, but the food was MUCH better then that it is now. Downtown Disney had a different name then.

We discovered our new favorite nice restaurant on our most recent trip. Jiko was incredible!!!
