Hopefully this helps some people...Got through the DCA gats about 7:45am today with no early entry. They had a sign saying Racers would open at 10am, so here was what we did in the first hour:
Soarin FP
WOC FP
TSMM
California Screamin FP (disconnected)
TOT FP (got this at 8:40 and Racers FP line was still at Aladdin)
Little Mermaid
Star Tours FP
Space Mountain
Buzz

We did use the single rider line for Racers around 2pm and the exact wait was 22 minutes.

YEAH!! Sounds like an awesome day!

Sounds like a productive hour. What was the posted wait time for the single-rider line compared to your actual 22-min wait?

It was 120 minutes. We also saw a number of people in the single rider line sit next to the person they were in line with.

This is very promising. Thanks for the info!

Thank you! Where was the Racers sign posted?

Wasn't there yesterday but was there last Wednesday when Racers didn't open until noon. They were very proactive about letting everyone know. The CMs scanning tickets were actually announcing it over and over as people entered the parks. There was a sign just inside the park and another sign at the end of Buena Vista Street (near Carthay) stating that RSR wouldn't open until noon. At the end of Buena Vista Street near Carthay, there were CMs directing people to the fastpass line that was forming up. Also, before rope drop two or three times in the last ten minutes, the rope drop CM and/or Security CM announced that RSR would be closed until noon and directed people where to go for the fastpass line.

I am new here and never been to Disneyland but planning a quick Oct trip. I am wondering...why does the racers not open until 10am or even noon? Do they have problems with it?

Also...if it doesn't open until noon and they are directing people where to go to get fast passes...do they let you get fast passes that early or do you have to wait until it opens?

The racer wait times reminds me of Toy Story at Hollywood Studios in orlando...if you don't get a fast pass before they run out...you might as well forget it.

I was hoping to go on a weekday when it isn't so crowded...will that help for the Cars land?

Thanks!

Racers is a finicky ride right now. Lots of breakdowns and sometimes late starts. When Racers is expected to have a very late start due to these maintenance issues, then the CMs try to inform everyone by making announcements and posting signs. I was there on a day when RSR wasn't expected to open until noon; PP was there on a day when 10 AM was the expected opening time. Others have had similar experiences. The park has been opening for early entry at 7 AM daily, and the masses seem mostly to be there for RSR. In a departure from regular policy of keeping fastpass machines off when the ride is down, Disney has gone ahead and turned the machines on at 8 AM to distribute fastpasses even if the ride is down so long as it is expected to come up that day (I heard there was one day when the ride didn't open at all perhaps due to a freak thunderstorm). From all reports, RSR fastpasses have been consistently running out for the day between 9 and 10 AM.

During this summer, weekday or not, Carsland is "crowded"; it's the thing everyone wants to see right now. It will be interesting to see how crowd patterns settle out once the newness dies down, whenever that may be. When were you planning on going?

Thanks for the info....I am still trying to decide when to go...I heard that the shows like Fantasmic will only be shown on weekends in Oct. so want to go for that...but also realize weekends are more crowded. So, if I have to go on a weekend...my only choices are Sept. 29-30 or Oct. 6-7. i am thinking of either doing 2 or 3 day hoppers so could do 1 weekend day and weekdays if I want...or 2 day tickets and do the same.

I will only be in CA from Sept. 28th and flying out early on Tues. Oct. 9th...so have limited time and also want to do other things...San Diego...possible San Fransisco. I LOVE Disney and have never been to the CA park so think I need to go but am finding out that I am planning everything around a couple of days at Disney and it is becoming more stressful than it needs to be trying to plan which days and where.

I know also that Disneyland closes some days early for Halloween party so this complicates it further. Silly me...I thought I could go on any weekday and still see parades or Fantasmic.

Thanks again.
