Officials: Body Found Marks Celebration's First Slaying

Comments (0)CELEBRATION, Fla. -- The Osceola County Sheriff's Office identified a man on Wednesday who was found dead in his Celebration apartment.
Deputies said 58-year-old Matteo P. Giovanditto was found dead in his home on Monday.
Deputies said the death marks the first homicide in the town's history.
Meanwhile, a black Chevrolet Corvette that authorities were searching for in connection with the investigation was found Tuesday evening. Investigators said the vehicle was located in Kissimmee and was empty.
Neighbors said they were stunned when a man was found dead in a home near the downtown district of Celebration, a town developed by Disney that is known for white picket fences and upscale homes.
"We've never seen anything like this at all," neighbor Bob Fulk said.
Investigators with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office said a women tried to check on her neighbor on Water Street at 9:30 a.m., but discovered a dead body inside the apartment instead.
Investigators have not yet identified the man and have not said if the man lived inside the apartment.
Deputies told worried neighbors that investigators were working aggressively to solve the case.
Deputies said a body found in an apartment on Monday is the first suspicious death in the town of Celebration.
"It does not appear that it is a safety concern for the neighbors," Osceola County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Twis Lizasuain said. "It appears this incident is isolated and that is how detectives are working the case."
