Hi ! My DS is 21 months old and is almost ready for his first haircut. I just heard that there is a place in Magic Kingdom that does first haircuts and makes them really special. We are going at the end of June and am thinking about doing this.

Has anyone done this? Let me know your experiences!

The barbershop is on the left side as you enter, and right of the firestation.
Go first thing in the morning or during parade time. Either way expect to wait.
Worth it. DH always gets his haircuts there. :)
I think little ones getting their first haircuts get a strand to keep and a certificate.

My DD did this for her first hair cut this past Jan. The lady that cut her hair did a great job. She was great at distracting her - put Mickey stickers all over her. My DD fidgets ALOT and she was very patient. She sprinkled her hair with "pixie dust" and gave her monogrammed Mickey Ears that say "First Hair Cut" along with a certificate and locks of her hair. It was truly a Magical Moment for us.

My DS - not to be left out - had his hair cut and colored as well. It really was fun for the whole family.

Enjoy.

I get my haircuts at Harmony. They do a great job, and even if there's a wait, you can people-watch, talk to other guests, and be out of the heat. Don't wait too long to get your child's first haircut. If they have begun to pick up on the idea that the doctor= shots, they may think that the barber is a doctor, and react accordingly (which is no fun for the child, the parents, the barber, or the other guests).

I was thinking for a few days about if adults could get haircuts or trims at the barber shop. Cause I want 'Pixie Dust' in my hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My son nagged my DH so much after he got his hair colored, that he finally gave in. So the day after my DD first hair cut, we were back there again, this time for my DH and DS to get color and Pixied dust in their hair. It was really fun. My DD laughed when she saw all the Mickey confetti falling our of my DH hair.

So, xAmarisx, yes - adults can do it too!

My son had already had his first haircut in between our 2 Disney trips with him 5 months and 15 months. Anyways, the woman..I think it was Maria, cut his hair. I loved the way she cut it and have it done the same way to this day. She gave him the certificate & ears, as well...stating it may not have been his first haircut, but it was his first Disney haircut!! They were so great with him, he had fun with bubbles and toys while she cut his hair!! It is definately worth it!!!:earsboy:

Hi Charlie, I had both my sons FIRST haircuts done at WDW. My husband filmed it while I held each child to have it done! To this day to watch it is PRICELESS! (I am the one crying!) They each got a certificate and MOUSEEARS that say First Haircut on them. After cutting off their baby curls I took them for a ride on the Carousel and took their picture with the new" big boy" haircut. This is definitely a memory that stays with you and grows sweeter over time! By the way my sons are now 16 and 10 years old. And on our visit last summer my hubby had his hair cut in WDW and he got sprinkled with Pixie Dust. This was the HIGHLIGHT of his day!! Joan

My 4yo had his first haircut at WDW when he was 13 months old. Like others have said, it was a lot of fun. He had his hair cut again when we were there in February and wanted to wait for his next haircut until fall when we will be returning. I told him that he'd need a couple of haircuts between his WDW haircuts or he'd look like a girl. LOL

His older brothers also had haircuts there with pixie dust (I don't thing that they did the coloring when they had their hair cut a few years ago).

T&B

We were thinking about getting the blue dye for my 4 yo grandson. How long does it last? Is it hard to get out? Should it definetly be washed out that evening (blue pillows?) We'll be at MK on a Tuesday, but have a character breakfast the next morning and wondered if it would last.
