first haircut at mk

does anyone know how a lock of hair from a first h/c is saved at the barbershop in mk? do they tie it w/a ribbon or something for you? or just give you something to put it in? i want to get my dd and ds's first h/c's and wanted to know if i should bring ribbon or something.

I don't know, I'm planning on bringing a baggie to put my DS hair in, just in case!!!

When we had DS's first haircut in 2000, they put it in a tissue, wrapped it up nicely and sealed it with a Mickey sticker. It's still wrapped that way now in his baby keepsake box.

I don't know if they changed it or not since then but we plan on taking DD for her first haircut there too.

I believe it is $12-$15...I think the lower end for kiddos and the higher end for adults. Hubby has gotten his hair cut there once--he gets the funky colored gel too

Both daughters have had their hair cut there. Hair is still packed in a tissue.

FYI--my daughter just wanted the sprinkles in her hair one time. We thought we would "save" money. Her little sister was getting her "first" cut at the time. Since oldest occopied the chairr and they "did' her hair--we were charged the same, even though she didn't have a single lock cut.

For "first" cuts you get a certificate, hair wrapped in tissue and mickey mouse ears that are stiched with "first" haircut. Price is the same for "first" timers and veterans who just need their hair trimmed and get some funky colors and sprinkles. But if it isn't your "first"--no ears for you (referring to the adults--they take your word on the kiddos!)

We did our son's first haircut last month. It was the most precious thing ever. Bring your video camera. Michael the Barber was soooo sweet with our son.

They put the hair in a piece of tissue. I don't remember if there was a Mickey sticker or just a piece of tape to close it. They gave us TONS of Mickey stickers there, and more to take with us to use later. The cost is $14 for kids, and I think $17 for adults.

Oh this is such a good idea. My little one could use her bangs cut. I have been procrastinating because it is soo beautiful.(red and curly) My other 2 lost their curls after their first cut. My little red has been through so much medically in her life that this would be real special. her first everything is celebrated with flair!

The very first lock of hair cut off my DS went into a tissue and was sealed with a Mickey sticker. It held up well, it's still like that!! It was one of the most special things we've done, I would highly recommend it. It is the only haircut that he has not been hysterical over. I even brought some of the leftover Mickey stickers this past haircut but he screamed right through it, *sigh*.

Do we need to make an appointment or is it a first come first served type of thing?

For those of you that got the haircuts...did you have to wait a long time?

They don't take appointments, it's walk in. We waited about 20 minutes for DS's first cut. He actually got the last pair of Mickey ears that day. Any kids after him didn't get any

Since we go to WDW atleast once a year, we always have his haircut there on the first day so we can take pictures and video to see how much he has grown. It's become our tradition. DS loves getting the colored gel and "pixie dust" in his hair. He gets alot of extra attention from CM's and the characters.

Sometimes we have had no wait at all, other times we've waited for up to 45 minutes. Go first thing in the morning if you can and get your name on the list.

They do have a few toys for the kids waiting to play with and you can also walk around Main Street while your waiting.

Michael the barber is fantastic!

We have DD's first haircut done last week and she was just entranced by him. He gave her about 50 stickers before he even started to cut her hair and she just played the whole time.

The hair was wrapped in tissue and I bought a tiny box with candies in it in Epcot's England and once I finish the candy I'm putting the hair and pixie dust in it!
