We will be taking our daughter, and her family on our first DVC trip next December, and will be staying in a 2 bedroom at the Grand Floridian Villas. Right after booking they found out they are pregnant. The baby will be 2 months old in December. We are wondering if anyone knows any tips for staying with a tiny infant? Do they have any bassinets? Are there any rooms that might be a closer walk to the monorail so we can get back from the parks quickly? Any other tips would be appreciated.
Also, we will be celebrating their anniversary. They were married a few years ago at WDW, and the wedding chapel. It just happened there was a rainstorm, and it was a miserable cold day. Pictures turned out terrible! Do you think we could request a nice view of the wedding chapel, or maybe to go into the wedding chapel to take a couple of pictures? How do we put any requests?
Thanks for any advice you can give us.

I can't help you with the wedding stuff but since the villa building is set apart from the main hotel where the monorail stop is located there won't be much difference in walk time from any of the villa rooms - maybe a minute at most.

** Welcome to the DIS. **

The monorail to MK from GF is very quick. Coming back is not so fast even if your room is closer to the main building.

There are pack n plays in the room so they will be set there. You might have to ask for a sheet.

The villa building is very compact so I don't think location matters, but I do like to request a higher floor. We just stayed there in march and are going back in December! It was wonderful :)

The kids pool play area has plenty of shade and lots to look at. We took a 10 mo and took it easy, taking breaks mid day and eating many meals in the room.

Every room has a Pack-N-Play. The parks might be difficult for a 2 month old, but the Grand Floridian has plenty to do right there. We went in March with a 6 month old and had a great time. Some of us went to parks, and some of us stayed back with the baby. The baby did well on stroller rides and even the monorail. You could push the baby through the park on a stroller, but be prepared to come on back when the baby gets tired. If you have Annual passes, this is not a big deal, but if you are paying for a ticket, you may not get your money's worth in a park even though the baby gets in free.

Congratulations, hopefully you will have many more fun times at VGF as the little one grows up.

It is worth a call to the wedding chapel. I know you can schedule the Disney photographers for special family shoots. http://disneyfineartphotography.com/portraits/

Congrats family! If you want to check out the room view or request a specific room I suggest joining Touring Plans. It can help you find a good room and put in a request, it has other great features too but I'll stay on topic.

We took our almost three month old in Feb. December should be good weather for the baby. Ours mostly hung out in the baby carrier or the carseat on his stroller while in the parks. At two months, remember that the Mom is still recovering too. Keep her, baby, and everyone else for the matter hydrated and feed for a good trip.

Thank you all for your comments, and advice. We can't wait to experience our first DVC trip. Looking forward to many years of Disney.

You will love the GFV. We have twice and cannot wait to go back. Enjoy!

What a lovely time for your family. Love the VGF. Like TCARON, can not wait to return. And I just got back!

We had a four month old baby with us on a Christmas trip. I thought that they were crazy. But it was fine, no issues and a fun time. The only thing I can add is that the weather can be all over the map in December and when it's cold, it's very damp. So just pack for all kinds of weather.

Both my stays I've had lovely views of the wedding chapel. Just put it in your request.

You're going to be blown away by VGF. Very excited for you.

Are there pack and plays in all DVC rooms? I never knew that (I haven't purchased yet, just doing diligent research and saving money). Do you know if Disney, in general, provides those if you ask? Clearly, I've not yet had children. Haha! Thank you! :)

I'm pretty sure they are just in all the DVC rooms already. We might have had to ask once. I think they're available across the resorts but can't say for sure.

Pack and plays are located in every villa. If you get a two bedroom lockoff, you'll have one in the studio portion and one in the one bedroom portion, so two of them.

I believe views of the wedding chapel are on the lakeview side- so if you have a lakeview room certainly request it.

Congratulations on the impending arrival! My youngest was 2 1/2 months on his first WDW trip. We co-sleep, so additional accommodations for him were not necessary. But as other posters have said, Pack 'n Plays are provided. I do not know if the ones Disney has have the bassinet feature; perhaps if a friend has one, you could pack it or ship it to the resort ahead of time so it is waiting for you. As far as getting to the monorail faster... I don't think there will be much difference, except if you are at the very end of the building facing the water and have a long walk to the elevators. I agree with the poster who said getting there doesn't seem to take nearly as long as walking back to the Villas from the monorail.
