First Generation Nook Question

I was just given a hand-me-down Nook. My DSIL got a new one and so she gave me hers. She got hers when they first came out a couple of years ago.

I know that know you can download your library books on to the Nook but I have been trying (using the directions on the NOOK boards) and am not having any luck. So I was wondering if the original ones didn't have this capability.

Anyone know?

Yes they work.. Look into the My Document instead of B & N content tab. I would sideload the info into a folder and then use the USB cable to sideload them.

I'm not a huge fan of sideloading, but it can be done.

Ok, I hate to sound really stupid, but what is side loading? I've never heard that term before.

Success! I found it. The library book was in "my documents". Why it was there is beyond me.

Any book/document that was not purchased through B&N will end up in the "my documents" folder. For some reason B&N felt the need to keep them separate from their content.

Sideload.. when you have some content (not purchased through B&N or library content) .. it is loaded onto your computer. You then use the USB cable to "sideload" the material onto the Nook instead of getting it directly from B&N.

That is a little strange. I guess they want to make sure you don't confuse the other stuff with their stuff.
