First floor rooms...issues with snakes, critters?

We are going to POP first week in August, we paid for a preferred pool view room and I'm tempted to request a first floor room because I think it'd be great to just walk out and be at the pool (noise is not an issue for us) but I am reading that sometimes snakes find their ways into those rooms :scared1::scared1: PLEASE tell me this is not common.

I don't think it's common. We stayed in adjoining first-floor rooms in the Martinique section at CBR and we didn't run into any critter issues. We made sure to quickly check the rooms at the end of each day because we knew that mousekeeping has to keep the doors open while cleaning them. As far as critter types we spotted near our rooms, we saw some of little tiny lizards around the walking paths and a rabbit on the other side of our building--again, neither of which entered our rooms. You should be fine and if you do spot something, just let the front desk staff know.

I've stayed in many first-floor rooms at on-property resorts over the years (though never POP) - but I have never seen anything in the room worse than a waterbug (and that was due to my sister leaving food out. A lot of it. It was gross.)

Anyway - you'll see bunnies and lizards hopping through the parking lot, but I don't think you need to worry about snakes or creatures in the actual room!

We stay at Pop every year, and always have a first level floor. We have never had a critter in our room. We have seen the usual wildlife outside (Bunnies, lizards, frogs, even an armadillo once), but nothing ever in the room.

We've always requested a ground floor room (due to medical reasons) and have never had a problem with bugs or snakes being in our room.

This one time we stayed at the ground floor and an alligator snuck into the bathtub. :rotfl2:

Just kidding!!!!

Bugs, snakes, lizards, and other critters can get into a first floor room... and can get into a higher floor room just as much. It's rare to have something get into the rooms, but it can happen.

I was worried about this when we went to Pop last year because my daughter was sleeping on the floor with an air mattress. I had requested not having the 1st floor, but we ended up on the 1st floor anyway. Anyway, we never did see an bugs or snakes in the room.
Have a fun trip!!

I love to watch for bunnies and lizards, to me that is DISNEY. With over 35 on property trips I have NEVER seen a single snake so.... chance of one in room not likely.

Sometimes for fun we like to count how many lizards we see in a day. Helps to keep kids and grownups amused waiting for busses etc.

Have a great trip.

We were at Movies in the beginning of May. The "snake guy" was EVERYWHERE! We saw him everyday with his bag and stick- and going into first floor rooms. Sorry just telling the truth! We had a first floor room and weren't at all worried, we just came in and out quickly and checked the room every so often. We did see snakes, swamp rats, lizards, huge roachy beetle things, rabbits, squirrels, storks, frogs, toads, some crazy looking parrot bird (very pretty), and when we walked over to check out Music on our first night, the first thing we saw was staff wrangling a gator out of the bushes by the pool. :wizard: We did have a snail hanging out on our door frame the whole trip and on our last morning we saw him "slug" away. It was hilarious. There were alot of tour groups partying with there doors open all night though so they may have gotten in then and i doubt it was housekeeping.... I've never seen them keep the doors open to the rooms. We even waited outside our door taking pictures cuz we knew she was still in there and we didn't want to bug her and she never kept the door open. I've read all of the scary "critter" threads on these boards and practically cancelled the trip. When we got there I was like "move over snake I'm going to do a cannonball in this pool. Most of the animals are harmless and if you see one in your room just call the snake guy... He's good. :cool2:

When my sons were younger, we went to Boma for dinner. Before dining, we checked out the Savannah. Among the Giraffes, Zebras, etc., were bunnies. With a straight face, I explained to the kids that they were African Killer Bunnies (hence them being fenced in). After a couple of minutes they realized I was messing with them, but we still call them African Killer Bunnies whenever we go there.

We had a toad in our Sports room once. He was run over by the stroller upon our entry so they came and cleaned him up right away.

The last few times we stayed at the Poly it was on the first floor, so we had the walk out patio. We never had any creatures coming in our room or on our patio. There were lots of ducks & once there was a rabbit in the bushes touching our patio. :goodvibes

We have stayed ground level many times and never had any critters in our room. That being said, we stayed in the garden wing at the Contemporary last summer on the third floor and had a lizard living in the bathroom. Talk about a scare in the middle of the night! The next morning we called the front desk and they said they would send someone out to "collect" it. We however, caught it in a box lid first.

we had a duck try and wander into our room (1st floor) at CBR once. That's when it dawned on me that ducks are pretty harmless compared to what else could wander in. So we request highest floor now. Not that critters can't get up there, but I prefer to think that snakes and the like are lazy and would go for first floor vs. climbing the steps to get me :rotfl2:

A couple years ago, someone posted PICTURES of a large black snake in a 2nd floor room at the CR. She'd been there for a while cause she had a nest of EGGS on top of the curtain valance.:scared:
