First Floor Request

Quick question: Our group is staying at POP. We already have a request for a roll-in shower for my mom. I also requested first floor; my DD has sensory integration issues and is dreadfully afraid of heights. She doesn't even like elevators. So when I made the request, the CM told me not to worry about the scooter if we don't get a 1st floor because there are elevators. I let her know the request was due to DD's condition. Like, if we're on the second floor it may take 5 minutes as she gets as close against the wall as possible and shuffles against it. Third or higher she may be crawling. I'm not kidding. So, on my confirmation I see the request is in there but it's not listed as a medical request. Does anyone know if my request is entered correctly in the system? I realize this will be a request and they'll try their best, but would like it entered in a way to give me the best chance. We're going Jan 20-26. Thanks!

I only have a minute to reply.

Reservations for roll in showers go thru the Special Needs Department because they have to make sure that one is available for the time you are there. Roll in shower rooms are a guarantee, not a request.

In the disABILITIES FAQs thread, there is a post about room accommodations and it lists the contact information for the Special Needs Department.
You can call there ( have your reservation number) and make sure the first floor info is on there as a medical request.
I don't how many (if any) of the roll in shower rooms are NOT on first floor, so it may be a moot point. But, at least you will have the request attached somewhere else.

For various reasons we need first floor I tell them it is medical and they put it on the reservation. My OCD always gets the best of me and I have to keep checking to make sure so I call a month before then 2 weeks before then the week before and finally just before we leave. It might seem silly but many times the first floor medical part has been removed and I have to get it added back. Just saying it doesn't hurt to check

Our last trip I requested a room on the first floor close to the Food court. My ds has CP and has Aspergers. I telephoned the special needs department and was advised not to worry everything would be taken care of. I wanted to avoid any melt downs.
We arrived at POR for checkin...... the room that was assigned was as far away from the food court as possible and on the second floor. Hiked back to the desk and after a considerable amount of time they moved us closer and to the first floor.
It showed medical needs on the reservation but whoever assigned the room chose to ignore it.
It seems we go through this every trip.

Before leaving the check in area, we verify that the room we were assigned is what we expected. And, I usually go in before the rest of my group to make sure it is a roll in shower room.

I called and confirmed that the first floor request was for medical reasons. Thanks everyone for your help.... :thumbsup2
