First Exchange Experience

We just booked @ a "regular hotel" for the 1st time using our points. We are going 9/29-10/3 and staying @ the Polynesian. The only DVC available was SSR & OKW. We decided that since the amount of points was not that much different we would rather just stay @ Polynesian. Nothing against SSR or OKW, we really do like both, but we were just kind of in the mood for something different and since we haven't stayed at Poly in a few years we thought it was a good opportunity based on the lack of DVC rooms available. We also had the option of a water view room @ Yacht Club, but we were afraid that we would've just spent the whole time wishing we were across the water @ BW lol. Really looking forward to staying @ Poly again and being in an MK resort for the first time in a few years!

It's a $95 fee for doing the exchange and then it was 153 points for Poly @ that time. Just call and tell them where you would be interested in staying ( for us it was CR, Poly, or GF) and then if there is availability you can exchange your vacation points for reservation points & book it.

We stayed at the Poly in 2000-most of the rooms had just been redone-it's a beautiful resort. I love the flexibility of using points so we can experience all the different resorts!

Yea Poly is awesome, it's been several years since we last stayed there so we're pretty excited. In my mothers 10 years as a member & my year as a member myself we have never used our points to stay @ a non-DVC resort. It was extremely simple and I fully intend on doing it more often in the future if the amount of DVC rooms available are as little as it was this time. Granted it cost us a little less than 70 points more than a 1 bdrm @ SSR would've been, but it'll be nice to stay somewhere that we haven't in a while. Plus we had to use over 200 points by Jan 31 anyway so it really doesnt hurt.
