We hit the road yesterday and made it down to Read Bingham State Park in Adel, GA.

Got the camper hooked up on Thursday. We did a camper change this spring, and our beloved Bella went to live at the lake with my nephew and his grandkids. So this is Ferdinand! We've made some shorter trips with him, but this is the longest distance we have been with him.

We got settled in for 2 nights, All 47 sites were full but there was some good trick or treat costumes!

We really like this state park, the sites are level and there are trails, fishing and gopher tortoises.

on Nov 1 we are moving down to the Fort and I am going to move this report to the November Open Report, but I had to use my thread title!

Another great day on the way to the Fort!

We made it! Got checked into site 1326. The Fort was packed, the fields along the road at the hitch unhitch area was Full of campers, we didn't have to wait for a site tho and got settled in pretty quick,

Thanks for all the well wishes and I am thankful that the travel was uneventful.

Gopher tortoises are a big deal around Reed Bingham, They crawl around the campground and dig big holes. They are also protected by the state. There are also Buzzards!!

"Visitors to this pretty park usually see abundant wildlife, including species such as gopher tortoises, yellow bellied sliders and indigo snakes. Nesting bald eagles are often seen in winter. American alligators are often seen sunning along the lake’s edge. During winter, thousands of “buzzards,” actually black vultures and turkey vultures, roost in the trees and soar overhead. Nearly 80 percent of the Coastal Plain’s plant community can be found along the park’s Coastal Plain Nature Trail, making this park’s habitat some of the most diverse in the country."

I must have deleted my tortoise pictures, so I'll post these wings that I got at Merritts Pecan Store

Going out to check out the loop. I have to make a deal with the squirrels, they are already trying to borrow my bottled water....

Another great day at the Fort
