We have not driven to Florida since my son was 3 months old and that was to Fort Lauderdale. (those extra hours once you are in Florida are torture) Now that he is 4 we are thinking about trying it again. Our problem is we like to stop everywhere. It takes us much longer that it should.

How long does it take you from Delaware?

Haven't done it myself, but my brother and his family has. Last year it took him about 13 hours going down to Disney. They stopped a couple times. Coming home they stopped 2 times for a potty break and were home in under 12 hours.

Wow. I didn't realize Delaware was that much closer. It takes us almost 20.

It takes us 18 hours to drive it...

And i'd rather shoot myself in the foot than have to drive that far if I can help it! ;)

But if it meant going on the podcast cruise or not going on the podcast cruise, then i'll be drivin'! :rotfl:

That is closer than Pittsburgh too. Mapquest says about 15 hours from here. I have a friend in Charlotte too so that make a good resting place.

Oh I can feel myself thinking about driving.

Lots of people from this area go to OBX. He always vacationed in Myrtle Beach when I was a kid. I keep think I am going to take my son there and then I see how far it is and we end up going to Disney instead.

Just checking in. I don't have time to read everything now so let me know if there's anything by email.

mid 80s in St. Maarten today :goodvibes

Hope you are having a wonderful time, uh, I mean I hope everything meets your quality control standards.

For that price, I don't blame you!:drive: safely!

Thanks Todd, Denver is about 150 miles from Aspen. I am happy the podcast cruise is in May.:) Less of a chance for weather to play a part in making the trip take longer. I have a cruise in January and have to drive to Denver. We will drive over the day before the flight.

Tracy you just had to rub that in.;) It is 27 degrees here in Aspen.:sad2: It stopped snowing about and hour ago. The sun is starting to come out.:goodvibes

I think it is easier to wait it out when you can drive. I know that driving from Texas would not be an option for me. Driving from Pittsburgh is not too bad (not great, but not too bad). Then you can just think...if I don't get a good flight I can drive.

I just looked and the drive from Texas is not as bad as I thought it was.

We used to drive from San Antonio TX all the time. It is only my DH and I and we would take turns driving. We would do about 14 hrs the first day with only stops for the bathroom. My DH got so good he could eat a sandwich while driving with no problem. We would sleep somewhere in the Fla panhandle and then do the last 4-5 hours the next day.

It was very tiring but we just wanted to get there so we did not mind. We would make the drive back home in one shot and get home in the wee hours of the morning. Then we flew one time and suddenly realized how much extra time we would have at WDW if we flew; haven't driven since...;)

Yep, 2-1/2 flight or 15 hours driving. Makes a big difference when vacation time is precious.

I saw San Antonio on a show last night. It was in the top 10 holiday spots. The river walk is beautiful around this time of year.

Everything is great! They got new washers & dryers on the ship and they are so fast!!!! Got laundry completely done in 1 1/2 hours, including folding and putting away 2 loads!! Not bad at all.

I was excited that it got above freezing today.

Yes, the River Walk is very pretty this time of year. We enjoy it, but nothing compares to WDW for the holidays.

Me, too. No long undies in bed tonight!

Is it really that cold where you are? It is in the mid 70's here today and sunny. yuck! I wish it was colder, would make it feel more like the holidays. We are supposed to get back down to the 60's tomorrow; I hope so.:)

It was up to 50 today (heat wave). But it has not be into the 30s since Thursday. I don't mind the cold too much, but I like it to get above freezing during the day. I am sure Detroit was worse.

IMPORTANT - This is NOT official information. This DOES NOT come from any official source at DCL and should be considered strictly rumor at this point.

I am hearing that tomorrow's announcement will be some variation of a 'kids cruise free' promotion. I have no information yet on what dates will be eligible - but I can speculate it will be for sailings in the first part of 2009.

I also don't have details as to exactly what the promotion will entail.

I will keep you posted as I hear more.
.

Oh my, do you think will include May?

I hope it includes June. My parents are paying for our family and my brother's family. That's 5 kids!
