First Ever DISUnplugged Podcast Cruise, 11th and Final Thread

I'll admit that I :lovestruc Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. But I also thought that Daniel McFaden did a bang up job, even without the pond scene.

Also, if any of you are seated with us for dinner, could you bring up P&P? Just act causal about it. :goodvibes Everytime it's on TV I put it on, and my DH walks through and says You're not watching that AGAIN! :rotfl: If someone else brings it up, it looks like he's the crazy one. Right? Right?

There will be more crazies. Just sayin'. :rotfl:

Kathy! BFF!

We actually have acronyms for this in my particular line of work --

In an emergency, a role may need to be backfilled because an individual:
WTL (won the lottery)
HBB (was hit by a bus)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

No. I'm serious. Really.

I just snorted hot tea!!!!:lmao::lmao:

Dodie, I need to remember these the next time I have to complete an employee profile form!

The book Bridget Jones' Diary is loosely based on Pride and Prejudice. If you know the story well, you can see the similarities. In a nod to that, the author of Bridget Jones actually named the character Mr. Darcy. Then, when they made the movie, it was the ultimate in tongue in cheek when they actually got Colin Firth to play the role.

I love me some Bridget Jones too. Hugh Grant and Colin Firth in the same place at the same time!

I could not agree more!

I have to admit I have never read P&P. I was very confused how the topic had changed. :rotfl: It makes sense now.

Do you want to read it? I'll toss my copy in the suitcase.

Thanks, that is so nice, but I don't think I will have any time to read it. Between my DH and my 4 year old I don't get any time to read on vacation. I always bring my Ipod on vacation hoping to listen to it on the plane. It never happens. Maybe I will get lucky this time and he will fall asleep. They have P&P available for download from the library. Maybe I will do that before I get on the plane.

Even if I am not seated with you for dinner, I will find a way to bring it up in conversation. :rotfl2: Let the games begin!!!! :thumbsup2

Hi all!

Flying by right now - hair's done, gotta pick up DD for lunch then a dentist appointment. DH got an early out from his quarantine and had to go to work today.

I pulled out P & P for vacation reading...dang I forgot the copy I have has such small print.

Jaimie - those boxes are fabulous...hmmm..DH is still looking for my birthday present!

Still have today, Wed, Thur, and Fri to work and it is so hard not to surf the web and dream about being there already. How are you all focusing on work...for those of you like me still working.

Focus? What's that?

I was just coming to post that I have no idea why I am at work today. I am completely not focused. I am barely getting anything done. How am I going to make it through the week?

I've also never read/seen P & P...guess I should, huh?

Maybe i'll add it to my Kindle app...but then i'm sure i'll never get any studying done for my midterm! :laughing:

It's real tough Don. I'm 65% work, 35% vacation mode today. Tomorrow will be 50/50.

Thursday will be, "You better have chocolate if you need me to sign, review or approve something for you today."

I will not be able to sleep tomorrow night, since I leave VERY early Thursday morning. I should be able to get a decent night's sleep tonight. I hope.

As far as P&P goes, I have actually never read it. I know, sacriledge (sp?) Anyway, I subscribe to Audible.com and I had my April credit still sitting there, so I got P&P. I should be able to get get through at least half of it waiting in the airport and on the plane on Thursday. I have seen the BBC mini series with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy and loved it. I have a reading disability (although you wouldn't know it by all the books I have in my basement) and some books are hard for me to read. In fact, an old friend was brought to mind last night and I am re-reading it. Has anyone read Madeleine Brent. I love her/his books, since Madeleine Brent is the name Peter O'Donnell used for a series of gothic romance. Kind of like the Victoria Holt books. I loved her too. Anyway, that's why I have so many books in the basement. I can't get rid of friends, you might never know when you want to visit with them again.

Geez, I am in a rambling mood today :) Anyway, I actually have a shipboard question. Is anyone bringing a little purse/murse with them for the day while we are onboard? I generally don't wear my glasses all the time but I want them with me and I NEED reading glasses so, I think I will need to have a small bag with me. Now I need to go through the purse stash to find a small crossbody bag.

I just sent DH to the library to get it for me - whether I read it or not is another story ;). He is off all this week and next so he's just hanging around trying to tie up some loose ends. He actually went to the train station today to see if he could buy the air train tickets (the train that goes to JFK airport) early so we won't have to do it on Thursday. I think he may be as excited, if not more, than I am!

The same will go for me on Thursday night. 4am wake up call on Friday.:scared1::eek::scared1:

I usually bring a 'murse' when I go somewhere. Its easier looks better than stuffing everything in your pockets.

My Mom asked for a little purse for her cruise last year - which was right after her birthday. She has the glasses issue, plus a smoker & a gambler. I found her a cute little purse and bought 1 for me too. Of course she won on board and was complaining that it didn't fit in her tiny little purse... :rolleyes: I forget which cruise line they were on.
