So as time is passing, I am wondering if I should upgrade my dining plan from quick service to the regular dining plan. I've also been getting some valid arguments for and against me upgrading to a savannah view room. Still thinking....
I would get the savannah view. I know people say you can see the animals from other locations, but I only really saw them from my balcony, never once from the lookout off the lobby. Plus, the animals are the point of AKL, or else you could stay anywhere and just visit the hotel. I wouldn't take a dining plan of any form in all honesty. I got it free once so I tried it and found the process a hassle compared to paying oop. Not to mention, I would have over paid by by $150 had I purchased the plan vs paying oop. You save more money not taking the plan IMO.
As for dining alone, I find TS much easier as you don't have to watch all the free tables get taken while you are still in line with no one to go save you a seat. TS they seat you, no hassel. Before I traveled alone, I went out to eat alone several times so it was nothing new by the time I did it on a trip. Other dinners are paying more attention to their food than to you, I promise. Typically I get served faster since they don't have to coordinate serving multiple plates at once.
The meal at the end is family style with the whole group eating together. While I have no issues dining alone, what kept me from doing this was that I didn't want to be stuck at a table of strangers vying for food against potential "hogs". If you are comfortable with that, go for it. I watched the truck one night, the wild pigs chased after it thinking it was the feed truck. It was really cute.
