First DVC stay-question

You won't need either of those. Each kitchen and kitchenette has a bottle of dishwashing detergent, plus a scrubbing sponge. There are extra trash bags in the bottom of every trash can. Now with daily trash removal, you probably won't gather that much trash any more. Usually there is a trash room either on your floor of the hotel style DVC villas or on the ground floor of the community style villas (OKW, SSR). There should be both trash bins and recycle bins in the trash rooms.
We actually did run out trash bags this past November and used what we had. With all the toy wrappers and food we ate in the room, we needed extras. Those trash bins are small. They did not come by daily, but did come by a couple times. YMMV.

Is there anything you pack when staying DVC that you don't pack when staying at a resort? Thanks!

Coffee, coffee filters, snacks, adult beverages, water, English Muffins, eggs, microwavable bacon, salt, pepper, hot sauce. . .so many things.

If you need extra trash bags, just pick up the phone and contact Housekeeping and ask for more. They didn't start the daily trash pick up until late December/January.

That daily trash pick up threw me when we stayed at Hilton Head in December. We came back late afternoon on our 2nd day and our door was open to the room with the lock flipped. I about had a heart attack. The worst part was that Mousekeeping left the room open like that after they picked up the trash. We just knew that someone had been in the room and we were scared. We called the front desk and they explained about the daily trash pick up. They were so apologetic about leaving the room unsecured all afternoon. The manager stopped by and brought us a great gift basket. Now we know. But they should have something in the room alerting you that this will happen. We have been members since 1997 and are used to DVC’s way of doing things. So we sure didn’t expect someone would be in our room that day.
