How many of you have a first day tradition....Mine is to start Day 1 at MK.

However, for our Dec. trip Spectro and Wishes are not scheduled for our first day (Dec. 9) and they are for day 2, so I'm going to have to shift MK to day 2 and pick a different park for Sunday? There goes tradition.

The only thing that we do first EVERY time, is ride the shuttle from the gates to the main building at Orlando Int'l Airport.

After that (as you pointed out) it can change with the schedule of the events and hours of the parks.

We love to schedule the Hoop De Doo Revue on our first night, but if we go to WDW 3 times a year, we may only do the Hoop "every-other" trip, or so.

first and last day traditions are to be in MK, i think it is the perfect place to begin and end a wdw vacation. and since we leave so early in the am and get to mk between noon and one, another tradition is that on the first day we always have lunch at the crystal palace.

It used to be to go to MK on the first day, because when I go to Disney I want to see the castle! But I was reading TGM and that is the only park I should STAY FAR FAR AWAY from on our first day, so we're going to MGM that day.

I guess we have a tradition of staying at ASMu? I've stayed there 5 times, this will be the 6th :) In a row...

We don't really have a first day tradition because we usually arrive at the resort, which is different everytime, around dinner time and are too tired to do anything (21 hours in the car is very exhausting). The most we do is let the kids swim in the pool and then we go to dinner at our home resort then it is early to bed so we can wake up early and head on over to MK first thing. As for this year, we are flying :cool1: therefore we will be at POR no later than noonish, so we are going to check our luggage in with bell service and then take the ferry on over to DTD to do some shopping and then have some Gheradelli's for lunch....I know it's not the healthiest lunch, but hey we are on vacation. :goodvibes

In December, my DBF and I are going down to the parks for the first time together. We've decided to blend our first ride traditions and do both IASW and Pirates of the Carribean as 'our first rides' and start our own tradition! I can't wait to go!!! :)

We always eat at chef mickeys on the evening we arrive, take a monorail trip around the resort loop, and either go back to cont to watch wishes unless we are staying at the Poly and then we go to the beach and watch wishes. The first day is always the same. Up and at MK before it opens, straight to Fantasyland and to all the classics. Then we stay at MK, sometimes leaving in the afternoon for a break but usually not, and then wishes at night! :cloud9:

We eat at Concourse for breakfast and then go to magic kingdom. We may only go to mk for an hour or so that first day, but for us, that's what makes us feel like we are in disney.
Then, we have to go to mk our last night too. We usually do our shopping then.

Lunch at Beaches and Creme, dinner at the Concourse Steakhouse, and the first evening in the Magic Kingdom.

hey everybody!! after we check in at the polynesian we always grab lunch at kona cafe and order the sticky wings (cause they're unbelieveably scrumptous) then hop on the monorail to the magic kingdom! and of course revel in all the glory of spectro and wishes!! first day tradition...never fails...and can't wait to do it this august!!

We always go to MK the first day and eat at cosmic ray's. We always had a nice dinner planned the first day but could never get ourselves to leave the park and ended up at Cosmic Rays. It has now just become tradition and I stopped making ADR's for that day. We also ALWAYS get a ballon the first day and take a picture of some one holding it on mainstreet. Don't know how this came about but looking back through all our pictures of trips, there it is every time! :rotfl:

These seem to be the only 2 traditions that have stuck. We used to go to the room first, then MK and RUN to HM. This past trip was our first with dd and she had a meltdown while I was checking into the CBR. She couldn't wait any longer to see Cinderella's Castle, so we skipped the room, left the bags in the car and went straight to MK. Needless to say we skipped HM with a 3 yo, and went on IASW first.

Going back in Oct and looks like IASW is first on the list then dinner at Cosmic Rays.

:scared1: I thought it was every night!

We haven't been to WDW enough to establish traditions, but to me it just seems logical that MK has to be the first park we go in.

We always go to the Hoop De Doo! It is great fun and gets us all in the spirit and excited about our next day at the parks!!:goodvibes

Our first day tradition is to head to MK regardless of the time that we get there - this yr we will probably head into MK around 3pm and I always make an ADR for LTT. It starts the trip off right for us and puts us in the mood....

When my DH and I arrive at our WDW resort we spend a couple of hours at the pool, then we go to downtown Disney and do some shopping then we go to Ohana's and have a nice dinner then we watch the electrical water pageant from the beach at Polynesian.

My understanding is Wishes and Spectro are not being done on days MK has MVMCP. So our first day has no wishes or spectro scheduled. I guess maybe we'll do epcot the first day. Although I still like the idea of our disney vaca starting with a stroll down Main Street USA to the castle.

Got to head to MK first...you aren't really at Disney until you set your sights on that castle!!!

We usually get to WL around 9 a.m. or so. If our room is ready, we take our bags there, but if it isn't, we just leave it with the bellman. Then, we ride the boat over to the MK! We always have to ride the train from the Main Street station all the way back around to the front. Then we can walk down Main Street and get up close to the castle and believe we're finally back! Then, we just wing it for the rest of morning/early afternoon and eat lunch at Cosmic Ray's. Then, we head back to WL and if our room is finally ready, take the bags up. Then, we get ready for our dinner ADR at Chef Mickey's and ride the boat over to the Contemporary a little early to explore the resort. We always have to get our tradition pic taken in the big metal Mickey ears out by their pool! After Chef Mickey's, we ride the monorail to the MK and watch Spectro and Wishes.
