First Day Suggestions?

I'm taking my 3 boys to WDW for the first time the 3rd week in June. I bought 7 day tickets (with plus options and the hopper option) from a Travel agency for which they gave me vouchers. Because I'm staying offsite I'm told I have to get my actual tickets at guest relations at one of the Theme Parks. We were planning on going to BB the first afternoon we're there, so I was thinking of going to MGM getting my tickets, spending the afternoon in BB and then back to MGM for a couple of rides, dinner and maybe Fantasmic. Then starting full days at the parks the following day. My kids really want to do one of the Water Parks the first day, and because it's a short day I thought this might be a good idea. Any other suggestions? Thanks! :teeth:

Do you really want to burn a whole day of parks on a few hours in MGM? How many days are you going to be there? You can pick up your tickets at guest relations at either DTD Marketplace or DTD Westside you don't have to go to the parks. I hope you have a car becase staying offsite is difficult to do unless you have your own transportation.

Actually I wouldn't be burning a day of the parks. We'll be in Disney from 6/20-6/26 and I got seven day passes because they were just a few dollars more than the six day ones. I won't have a car, but the hotel we're staying at is only a mile away and they have shuttles. I was thinking MGM because I'm not going to use the shuttle the first day we get there (to save time) and we'll only be a couple of miles from MGM.

It sounds good. TL is actually closer to MGM but BB is not that much further. I know that with the new ticketing option that extra days are really cheap so I would say go for it. I am not sure about transport to the water parks from the major parks. I ususally stay onsite so i used disney transportation from the hotels or drive my car if i have something else to do offsite ater the water parks.

If you are arriving in the afternoon and are considering EPCOT, future world in the late afternoon / early evening is a prime choice due to the crowds all moving into the World Showcase by that time....you aren't going to avoid the mobs at Test Track (never can....idiotically slow loading ride) or Mission: Space though.

Do yourself a favor. Call the hotel you are staying at and get a "shuttle schedule". The one (and only) time we stayed offsite, we were promised "daily shuttles" as well. When we got to the hotel (which was also 1 mile to WDW...it was actually right next to WDW employment office), our "daily shuttle" service was just that.....ONE shuttle daily to ONE WDW park (Animal Kingdom). If you wanted to go anywhere else, you had to use WDW transportation. I seem to remember the shuttle was like 8 am and 8 pm. So....no staying late in the parks, and no getting there early (if you had to transfer). It was HORRIBLE.

Fortunately, they had an Avis rental car desk right in the hotel...we immediately rented!!!

Sometimes, these hotels can be SOOO deceptive. Get as much info as you can. Also, we are getting a rental car (intermediate) for 6 days (we leave in about 10 days) for $80 plus tax....the whole thing is like $102. That is cheaper than we can get a towncar service for (or Mears for 4 people.

Have a wonderful trip!!!

I actually called the hotel already. They have shuttles that run every hour from 8-11 and then from 5 until midnight, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I really wish I was staying onsite, but I just couldn't do it this time around, maybe next time. Thanks for your help everyone!
