First day question

Taking girlfriend to first ever trip to WDW on Aug 28th Our flight lands at 10:25am- so I plan on being at the park no later than 2:00pm. We will be staying for 5 nights on property and have park hopper passes My question is what park I should take her to first?

There are two ways to look at it:

1. It's her first trip to WDW, so take her to its heart -- MK. there is nothing like that walk down Main Street for the first time, and every time after. This would be an irresistible option to me!

2. If you have planned out your trip and have an idea of which parks to visit on which days, then just stick to that. The lowest attendance park on the day you arrive may not be the MK, but your trip may be more smooth if you stick to the plan.

MK is the dream, MK is the vision.... Take her to MK

My suggestion is to take her to Tony's for lunch, before you "do" the park. It's right inside and you get a great view of the square in front of Main Street, for some excellent people-watching. There's a character meet and greet just in front of it too... Let her soak up the magic before you do the serious plunge!

I would say any park except AK. They close early. I think MGM has EMH that night so it would probably be more crowded. Epcot would probably be the least crowded. Of course one can never get enough of the Magic Kingdom. And it is the most Magical.

I love MK, but it is usually pretty busy at 2pm no matter what day of the week it is. When I get to the parks mid day, I usually avoid going to MK due to crowds and fastpasses tend to be for several hours away at that point.
You could plan a nice dinner at Epcot and head over there and go around the world showcase before dinner. End the night with illuminations and you will have a nice day and be ready to hit MK at opening the next day

We usually get to WDW around the same time that you will. Our first stop is always MK, no matter how crowded. We usually get in, grab a couple of hot dogs, and find a spot near the castle for the 3 o'clock parade. It's always a great way to start a trip to the Wolrd (in our opinions anyway! )

Usually on the day we arrive at WDW we just take it slow, so we can relax and hit the parks early the next am! I suggest shopping in DTD and some resort hoppping. And then dinner at Chef Mickeys- always gets me "ready" for a WDW vacation!

But if you definitely want to hit the parks, I definitely say MK. Of course it might be the most crowded, but it's definitely the most magical!!!

Hi, my dh and I are also going to be landing Aug28, SUPER EXCITED, and hope to be at the hotel by 1:00 p.m. depending on how long ME takes. Anyways, we always go to MK first just to embrace the magic and walk around no matter the crowds.Then we plan to head over to Epcot for dinner and watch illuminations. Hope you have a great trip. We are staying Aug 28-Sept 1.

Our Honeymoon last year was the DW's first trip to the World. We went to MK on our first day and I kind of regret it. She loved the park, but thought the rest of the parks were kind of a let down afterwards. She still enjoyed them, but they just don't compare with the original. If we would have gone to, say, EPCOT first, she might have had a different opinion with nothing to compare it to. We ended up just going back to the MK almost every day of our trip!

Which resort are you staying in? Do you have the Dining Plan? If so, do you have reservations for dinner? I think Epcot is a great place to start. (My DH thinks MGM because of RNR, TOT, and StarWars) You could go for a nice dinner in Epcot, ride Soarin' and end the evening with Illuminations. MK would be great too, but that is a great place to start first thing in the morning.

We will be arriving early afternoon as well. Since we have not been before I can only guess that we will be at the resort at about 1:00 on Sat., 9/17. I know that there will be no way to keep my family out of MK. There has been so much planning and dreaming about getting there that it won't seem real until we are in front of the castle. I understand that more than likely there will be crowds. I know that we will not be getting much done, but just being there is the goal. With the price difference between a 7 and 8 day MYW ticket that is enough.

we've always done epcot first, w/dinner at garden grill (to meet mickey et al in a quiet controlled setting) and illuminations... no rides... just a little world showcase and the big cheese... it's a nice "intro" into disney magic... i highly recommend it...

of course, this year, we're changing the routine and going to MK on our first day at the kids' request (also 'cause we are not fond of the new garden grill menu plus we are arriving much earlier than in past trips)

I'm one of the people who finds AK to be the easiest park to finish, so I'd suggest that. If you do "finish" it, it'll leave you an extra day for one of the bigger parks (to me that would mean MK or EPCOT).

What a wonderful dilemma to have, and there are no wrong answers! I like the person's idea of a late lunch at Tony's and then stroll your way around the MK--how romantic!! You can't go wrong--have fun!
