Well we've had our new Pentax K100D for about 2 weeks or so now and only hubby has been playing with it. Soooooo I decided to take it up to my parents for the day and try it out myself. I was impressed and had alot of fun with it. Played with the manual focus alot and didnt do too bad if I do say so myself..... ;) Cant wait to take this thing to WDW!!!! :thumbsup2

I didnt know it took such nice shots out side, I never got that far yet, and she took it WITH OUT asking!!:scared1:
just kiddin. I cant wait to get to outside shots, Im still working on closeups and indoors for now, want to gain some skill with indoor use.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Our Pentax family is growing!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I had to talk my DW in to taking our K100D with her a couple of times for school events that I could not make. I passed down the old S2 IS to her and I will be encouraging her to take more pics on our WDW trip in Aug.

I've been working on getting my wife to use my DSLR a little more... she's going a "girls only" cruise in January and I'm going to send it with her so she can do better photos than with just her SD600. She's done plenty of manual SLR work but not for a while, so it's mostly an issue of refreshing her memory.

There's a chance I may do a trip of my own at the same time; if so, that means that I'll have a good excuse to pick up a newer DSLR body for myself before then. :teeth:

AKL couple, glad that you're enjoying your camera! :)

Ut oh,,,, Another couple "sharing" a camera. I see a 2nd camera body in that family coming soon!! ::yes::

My wife won't take our 300D off AUTO. Thank goodness it's firmware is hackable, so I can at least make her shoot RAW in AUTO. Give me a chance to at least correct exposure on some mangled pictures. :)

In the old days (3 years ago), Canon created a professional body (10D), and later a consumer model (the Rebel 300D). To have money, they used the same firmware, but disabled features on the 300D firmware as to keep interest in the pro body higher.

Some savvy people re-enabled the disabled features. Technically, the firmware was never hacked... just re-enabled.

Great job. :thumbsup2

I can't wait to get a DSLR. And definitely hope to have one before my next WDW trip but I dunno if it will happen.

I hope you can get one. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. I love my K100D, and am planning on getting more lenses too, esp a zoom lens with a low F/.
I am always looking at the pictures I take , even tho they are nothing great, and saying to my self "I cant believe how good these look!" Im always amazed at how sharp they are, and I can even zoom in and crop the pics in photoshop and they still looko great, no pixelization.
its a dream come true really. If it wast for all the very helpful people on this site, I might not have gotten the right camera.

Wow, that sounds like the same things I do to every new windows operating system I ever get. I go into the system files and turn off so many memory hog programs and intructions so that the computer will work so much faster.
Most computers take anywhere from 20 seconds at best to well over 2-3 min to boot to windows from off. I got mine to 5 seconds with that. Love hacking, lol. But now, the freaking new lightscribe DVD-R drive is taking me down to 10 sec, got to figure out something new for that:surfweb:
