Looking for First Day of school ideas for my kids? Anyone have anything you do besdies taking a picture.

Always have a new outfit....super cheap summer clothes right now. Special packed lunch with a fun napkin and an I love you note. Always walk them in instead of drop off, and ice cream after school.

Many parents do a special breakfast but we are not morning people and neither boys are breakfast eaters anyway. Always made sure we had their favorite pop tarts on hand:scared1:.

I love the idea of a special treat after school. We always just do a new outfit, and pictures out in front of the house (and the obligatory Facebook picture teehee). New bookbag, new lunch pail, etc.

Any neat websites for Back to School lunchbox notes, first day of school ideas?

My son will be starting his first year in college so I dont think he will be wanting me to do anything! :sad1:

But we did do the special breakfast in the morning, new outfit, new backpack and supplies - as well as the first day of school pic.

We do pics and I always pick them up. We also go get a snack at Sonic or something like that.

My kids are always bouncing off the walls, nervous before school and excited after so we don't do anything additional, it would just stress them out.

I try to cut out the comics and put it in their lunch boxes. Even their friends like that. LOL!

A friend on Facebook had a good idea. She took a photo of her kids that morning in their new outfits holding dry erase boards that said their name, age, and what they wanted to be when they grow up. I thought that would be cute to look back on.

Cute ideas :) love the comics in the lunchbox and dry erase boards

We do pictures on the front porch in new outfits with new backpacks:).
We also usually drop them off and walk them in. My son is switching to a new school this year for a program in another language.
I am torn whether to walk drive him in the first day or bring him to the bus. He will know a few kids in his new program so he won't be completely alone on the bus. I just don't know if we should get all the new experiences done in one day and end the nervousness or if it would be better to make the new school the focus for the first day, and the new bus the focus for the next.
We'll do their favourite dinner after school:)

I saw something like that on Pinterest but it was with a chalkboard and they put how tall they were, fav food, and what they wanted to be when they grow up. Need a big chalkboard I guess... LOL :lmao:

We do the things that have mentioned plus we take family pics by the school sign. In addition, to my son giving his new teachers welcome back to school gifts. We did indoor recess items- games and Legos. Hopefully his teachers will like them. We're excited to give them to them.

Good idea.

Get all the moms together and drink mimosa :cool1:

For kids i would tape little messages in there lunch box like "you make me smile" your the bestest face maker love mom one year one of kids couldn't remember to take her homework to school (yes it was done) she would leave folder on table in chair etc etc,,, so i covered the door with do you have you homework one night.

which started the poster on door which i ran around and got all the close family and friends to sign good luck wishes for school.

Then mimosa time

I make a cake shaped like a school bus every year. The kids love it. It is actually super easy. I got the recipe from Taste of Home. I also do the usual pictures on the front porch, notes in the lunch box. My kids do not always get new stuff for school so I usually wrap a little gift for them to open when they get home. It is always really small. Like a book, or paper dolls. Something for 5 bucks or less but they look forward to it. I really like bento lunches so this year I am trying to make a themed one on the first day of school. I think they will get a kick out of that. Check out lunchboxdad.com. He does some amazing stuff and they are fun to make.

I love this idea!

I try and do something cute on occasion, like tattoos on bananas (thanks Pinterest) or I will put a small chocolate bar in his lunch box, fun napkins left over from birthday parties, or write a joke for him to share with his friends.

Pinterest is full of fun (and funny) ideas. There's a picture of three kids dressed for school, backpacks on, sulking and looking sad and mom is in the background jumping for joy. It's hysterical! I have four going off this year and I plan on recreating that one!
