First Day at WDW Traditions

We usually head to Downtown Disney for a bite at the Earl of Sandwich, then head the World of Disney store (or whatever it's called). Do a little pin trading (mostly mom buying and kids saying..."oh mom look at this one, it's got Tinkerbell on it." That always gets me!

And yes, for our first full day, we start with the EMH park (whichever one that may be)

We always spend the first day (day of arrival) at DTD...eat dinner at McDonald's. I know the McD's is not original at all, but the last few years we've been at WDW, we've gone with other people and inevitably, McD's is the place they want to eat. So we feel we're breaking tradition if we stop. :teeth:

The first FULL day we spend at MK.

First day must see the castle! That is what truely convinces us we are really there.

I could not say it any better. After 25+ trips to WDW this is how we start our time.

We always play a round of miniature golf at fantasia fairways, and watch what we can of both Illuminations and Fantasmic, in the evening of course. :earsboy:

We always go to Downtown Disney for Dinner and shopping our first night. Simply when we arrive from the airport usually half the day is gone so we dont go into a park. Ususally its dinner at House of Blues, but the 75 minute wait last year cause DH to rethink and we tried The Earl of Sandwich, which now has become the new tradition. First full day, the MK of course, Then Epcot, MgM and then AK. Yes we do them in order of opening..

We also always have to take a picture of DH eating a rice crispie square for the relations at home.. :confused3

Sara :maleficen ( I like this new one a lot!)

We always try to do Chef Mickeys on arrival night and Magic kingdom is always the first park we do :wizard:

We always get to MK for the opening of the park and get on train to splash mountain. We love watching the people file into the park. And we almost always walk on to Splash Mountain.

Chick-Fil-A for lunch and Sassagoola pizza for dinner - arrival day tradition for years!!

First day always MK. Lunch at Columbia Harbor House, dinner at LTT. Stay to watch SPectro and Wishes.

We always have our first meal at Chef Mickeys and then hop on the Monorail for a ride.

We also go to DTD for shopping, dinner, & a drink at Captain Jack's.

We like to see the 'goods' being sold in DTD so as we are shopping in the parks we know exactly what we want and we don't get too carried away with souvenirs. It also helps with the kids' 'I want' & ' I need' (we are DINKS but we have taken nieces & nephews). They know what WoD has from the begining, so if we are in the park and they see something they would like we can say 'do you want this or would you rather have what you saw at WoD'. It helps to keep the spending under control (though as the aunt and uncle, we tend to go a bit overboard anyway  )

One year we did not go to DTD the first night and it totally threw us out of sync. for the entire trip. But we learned what works for us.

Our first day we spend walking around the hotel. Then head for the monorail.
Depending on when Spectro magic is playing head there or hit the hay for an early 2nd day. :flower:

If we can get from the airport quick enough to drop our bags off at the house we always try to make it into MK to watch Wishes.

Sunday mornings have to be a leisurely hot chocolate outside Ghiradelli's at Downtown and a bit of people watching.

Last day always seems to start with breakfast at an IHOP.

Well we've been to Disney only 5 times, 3 with kids. & we always go to MK, & watch the parade & fireworks from in fron of the castle, & Grab a bite at Casey's ( my dd's name!!). :flower:

Our first day is always MK. We need that first breathtaking view of the castle to tell us WE'RE REALLY HERE!!! Last August was an exception because we arrived along with Hurricane Charley, so our first day was mostly drinking in the lounge at the BC and watching hurricane reports on the TV. It was fun, but we headed for MK the next day as soon as the buses were running again to officially begin our vacation. :sunny:

It use to be DTD, but now I pretty much just head for a park.
